I was one of the first in my village to graduate from university.

Not because I was the smartest. Because someone made room for me when the community had almost no access to basic education.

Today, on International Day of the Girl Child, I look at these faces and I see what that room can become.

These girls are not waiting to be rescued. They are Girls Leading Our World (G.L.O.W). They stood in Abuja today holding a frame that says what they believe: "Invest in Girls' Rights. Our Leadership, Our Right."

Every girl in these photos has something a child marriage would take from her: a classroom, a voice, a future she gets to choose.

At @haskehumanitarianaid1 , we work in Northern Nigeria and in hard-to-reach communities where a girl's dream can end before it starts. With Global Catalyst, we are making sure these girls lead their own change.

But smiles alone don't keep a girl in school. Investment does.
