What becomes possible when girls have a space to discover who they are, practice using their voices, and turn their ideas into action?

Confidence grows through experience: making a decision, sharing a perspective, navigating a disagreement, and discovering what we can accomplish together.

In this episode of Potentiality, I welcome Crystal Sprague, Chief Executive Officer, and Adrienne Warren, Vice President of Global Programs at Global Catalyst, an organization mentoring girls across 30 countries to become powerful advocates and confident leaders.

We explore Glow Club, their cornerstone program, where girls learn alongside their peers with the guidance of a trusted woman from their own community.

Through hands-on activities, girls practice expressing themselves, listening to one another, building relationships, and working through differences. As they discover more about themselves, they also learn how to support each other.

That learning reaches beyond the club. Together, girls identify issues in their communities that matter to them and begin taking action.

There is something deeply meaningful about that progression: understanding yourself, learning to work with others, and recognizing that you can contribute to the world around you.

As parents, educators, and mentors, we can create opportunities for young people to experience that connection to see how their growing abilities can make a difference.

What could the girls in our lives discover about themselves if they had consistent opportunities to practice, collaborate, and lead?

🎙️ Tune into the episode, now available on all major platforms.

🎙️ THE UPCOMING EPISODE OF POTENTIALITY

Well into the second quarter of the twenty-first century, in an age of artificial intelligence and instant global connection, millions of girls are still being silenced, their voices dismissed before they are ever heard and their leadership extinguished before it is allowed to grow. Many of us carry that same silence within us to this day, passed down from our grandmothers to our mothers and on to ourselves.

What would it take for a girl to trust her voice and step into her leadership, and what becomes possible for her family and her community when she rises to lead?

In my upcoming conversation with Crystal Sprague and Adrienne Warren of Global Catalyst, we explore a movement mentoring girls across 30 countries to become powerful advocates and confident leaders. Through Glow Clubs guided by trusted local mentors, girls practice the essential foundations of leadership, sharing an opinion, making a decision and listening deeply to one another, until the power within them grows into the power to transform their world.

The stories Crystal and Adrienne shared moved me deeply, from a girl in Vietnam who asked her grandfather to support her goals as he had always supported the boys in her family, to a group of girls in Rwanda who walked door to door to bring their peers back to school. How might the girls in our care flourish if the adults around them learned to listen, to trust and to make room for their voices and their leadership?

In this conversation, we discuss:

🌱 How Glow Clubs build agency and voice as the foundation of leadership
💛 Why social emotional learning anchors girls’ growth across cultures
✨ How girls grow from power within to power with and power to
🫶 The lasting influence of one caring and consistent adult
⚖️ What gender parity makes possible for all of humanity

When we restore a girl’s voice and nurture the leader within her, every family, school and nation she touches grows wiser and more whole because of her.

🎧 Coming soon to Potentiality on all major platforms.

🌸 GIRLS GLOW CLUB | Acts of Kindness 💖🧹

Today, our Girls Glow Club girls from Lilato Community Centre put kindness into action! 🌟

As part of our session on “ Acts of Kindness,” the girls were challenged to choose one act of kindness they could do to make a positive difference in their community. Their choice? Cleaning up Mulala Health Post! 🏥🧹💚

Through this activity, our girls learned that achieving their goals is not only about personal success but also about making a difference in the lives of others. They demonstrated that even small acts of kindness can create a cleaner, healthier, and more welcoming community.

We are proud of our girls for taking the initiative and showing that girls can be leaders, change-makers, and agents of positive change! 🌍✨

At Liseli Initiative, through the Girls Glow Club, we continue to nurture confident, compassionate, and empowered girls who are ready to make a difference.

💗 Small acts of kindness. Big changes. Brighter futures.

Every success story is a reminder that the right support can make a difference. 💚🎓

Looking back at our Glow Girls days, we celebrate one of our girls who received support from VNDC to sit for her WAEC examinations and successfully passed! In this video, she shares her gratitude, and we are proud to celebrate this milestone with her. ✨

Today, the journey continues through Diva Girls, but we will always celebrate the stories and achievements that shaped our journey.
Here's to empowering more girls to learn, grow, and achieve their dreams! 💚
