Career development and skills training for South African youth job seekers.

Barriers to entry, limited funding and scarce resources keep too many young people from the opportunities that exist. Even the most affordable short courses are out of reach for many.

Our course bridges that gap with skills training in fields within the job market, workplace preparation and recruiter relationships.

We’re proud to celebrate another 10 students who have graduated from the SCA Coffee Skills Program: Barista Skills (Foundation)☕🎓

The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical training, giving graduates industry-recognised skills they can take into the workplace or build on as they grow their careers.

52 000 Meals delivered this week. 📦🚛

These meals went to Reagile in North West and as far as the Raey school in the slums of Addis Ababa. From a township in the North West to a school in Addis Ababa, the need looks the same. And it’s not just a local picture. It’s a continental one.

56% of the world’s food-insecure people will live in Africa by 2030, if current trends continue.

There is a shift worth mentioning though: the latest UN report shows the first signs of improvement since 2015. The gap is still huge, and closing it takes action on food systems and nutrition.

We walked into the centre recently and the kids had no idea what was coming...

Then the boxes came out. LEGO boxes - courtesy of the incredible team at LEGO Certified Stores South Africa, who decided our kids deserved a moment that had nothing to do with survival and everything to do with just being kids.

One little guy grabbed the mic and told us he’s going to “be a soccer star” someday. Another sat quietly signing his thank-you note like it was the most important document he’d ever put his name to. You should have seen it. It was lots of “wait, this is for ME?” and a few of us trying not to get emotional watching it happen.

These kids carry a lot. For one afternoon, all they had to carry was a box of LEGO bricks and the freedom to build something just because they wanted to.

Thank you to everyone at LEGO SA for seeing our kids and choosing to show up for them like this.

Giving back looks different for everyone — and that’s exactly the beauty of it.

For some, it’s rolling up their sleeves and showing up on a KhulaKitchen day — stirring pots, packing plates, wiping down tables, and loving the kids in the community.

For others, it’s a contribution that keeps the ingredients stocked, and the doors open month after month.

Both matter. Both feed someone. Time, energy, love, or a donation — every bit becomes a warm plate of food and a moment of dignity for a child who needed it.

Every Saturday, our Lifting Dreams tutors show up at Lehlabile High School in Mamelodi to give learners extra support where they need it most — from academics to building real confidence in themselves.
We’re so excited for Term 3! New goals, fresh energy, and more Saturdays ahead of showing up for these incredible kids. 🙌
