🌱 An enchanting story world of wonder, comfort & imagination
🐾 Meet the seven Guardian cubs of Glowfen
📚 Stories • characters • a little magic

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If you’re new here, hello. I’m Nicky — the writer, creator and Keeper of Glowfen. 🌿✨

Glowfen began with a simple thought.

Children are growing up in an incredibly noisy world.

There is so much competing for their attention, so much pressure to keep up, and very little space simply to wonder, imagine, notice things and be still.

I wanted to create some of that space.

So I began building Glowfen — a strange, gentle world just beyond the edges of the ordinary, filled with ancient trees, moonlit meadows, peculiar creatures, unexplained happenings and seven snow leopard cubs known as the Guardians.

Each Guardian has their own personality and their own way of experiencing the world. Some are brave. Some are sensitive. Some worry. Some wonder about absolutely everything.

None of them has all the answers.

And that matters to me.

Glowfen isn’t about telling children how they should feel. It’s about stories, imagination, nature, curiosity and companionship — giving children somewhere they want to return to, and perhaps helping them understand themselves a little better along the way.

There is Percy, too.

Percy would like it formally recorded that Glowfen is mostly about him.

It isn’t.

But arguing with him has proved largely pointless.

Glowfen is still growing. There are books, stories, activities and much more to come — and there are corners of the world that even I haven’t fully discovered yet.

So if you’ve just found us…

Welcome to Glowfen.

I hope you’ll stay awhile. 🌙

Some children feel the world a little more loudly than others. 🤍❄️

Olwen does too.

She doesn’t come to Glowfen to teach them to toughen up or feel less. She is simply the cub who understands when everything becomes too much, and knows that sometimes quiet, softness and someone beside you are enough.

She would never ask you to feel less.

Meet Olwen, Guardian of Sensitivity. ❄️

I’ve been thinking about what makes us remember certain fictional worlds long after we’ve grown up.

I remember the feeling of Care Bears, Winnie-the-Pooh and Snoopy as much as the stories themselves. Familiar characters and places you were always happy to return to.

And that’s really what I hope I’m creating with Glowfen.

Not just books, but a world children can get to know, grow fond of, and want to return to. 🌿✨

Tales & Treasures from Glowfen is where it all begins.

And perhaps one day, somebody will be all grown up and still remember a certain troublesome little blue bird. 💙🐦

Please share with someone you think this would appeal to. It would mean the world to me.

Some children need a little more magic in their quiet places. 🌿✨

For the deep feelers. The overthinkers. The daydreamers. The children who notice everything — and sometimes feel everything too.

Glowfen is a gentle world of stories, imagination and emotional reassurance, created to give children somewhere soft to land when the real world feels rather loud.

And perhaps that’s why a few grown-ups seem to be finding their way through to Glowfen too 💜

📖 Tales & Treasures from Glowfen is available now, with more Glowfen stories on their way.

🌿 Free activities and wellbeing resources are also waiting at glowfen.com — including resources that may be useful for parents, ELSAs, SENCOs and anyone supporting children with big feelings.

The door is open. Come in. ✨

When I started writing Tales & Treasures from Glowfen, I hoped it might become more than just a book.

Over the past few days, Percy, Tindra, Bramble and their friends have been quietly putting together something new…

A growing library of free printable resources for families, teachers, childminders and anyone who could use a little woodland magic.

If even one activity helps one child smile, feel calmer, or spend a few happy minutes exploring, then every minute spent creating them has been worthwhile.

They’re completely free, and they’ll keep growing.

🍃 Welcome to the Glowfen Resource Library

🍃 Please tag a teacher, teaching assistant, childminder or parent who might enjoy these free resources
