I was thrilled to be asked to paint this iconic day for the USPS. Such a great honor for such an important message. I watched that day unfold in front of my family’s b/w tv in ‘63, unaware that one day, I would contribute in my own small way. by @gmanchess

Any call from the Criterion Collection is a good one, but The Right Stuff!?...Come on! I’ve been a long-time fan of the book and the movie, and (obviously) a life-long fan of space travel. It was an absolute pleasure working with Eric Skillman on this, and an honor to put my mark on such a great work. by @gmanchess

Just one spot left in @scottmfischer and my @smarterartschool class. We started team-teaching organically during the old Illustration Master Class days. I’m grateful and honored to be able to keep the magic alive through Smart School. There are many other amazing classes and instructors available. Check them all out. I first visited the @norman_rockwell_museum in 1979 — it’s been a North Star for me ever since. I was so fortunate to have an exhibit of my Above the Timberline paintings in 2018, and then together we produced an extraordinary stage reading of the book with local high school students at the historic Mahaiwe theater. I can’t thank them enough for the ways in which they let my paintings come to life. I’m even more honored today to say that the cover painting is now in the Rockwell’s permanent collection. I can’t imagine a more appropriate home. I hope it will inspire others long after I’m gone, the way the museum has inspired me. Thank you to Laurie Moffatt, the board of trustees, and especially to Stephanie Plunkett and the whole staff. by @gmanchess

Only three days left! This painting is up for auction to benefit our local historical society. (Among other things, they have an incredible program for kids that I like to support.) Currently it’s a bargain at 500.00. :-) It’s a greenhouse owned and constructed by a fascinating local artist, Michael Ince, who passed away a few years ago. Bid early and often! Another fun project for the USPS! The Service goes back to the very first days of our nation, promising to deliver our messages safely forward for 250 years and more. Tiny artwork for big missions! I loved capturing the details of those endless Summer days… by @gmanchess
