Be the First Hello a Hatchling Ever Feels 🐢🌊

Imagine your mornings starting with tiny flippers heading toward the ocean, and your afternoons spent restoring the coastline they'll call home.

On our Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation program, volunteers spend at least half their time caring for endangered turtles, supporting hatchery work, and helping hatchlings reach the sea safely. The rest of your time goes to wider conservation: beach and river clean-ups, mangrove restoration, tree planting, eco-brick making, coral reef restoration, and community awareness in local schools.

You'll live alongside international volunteers, share yoga evenings, movie nights, and temple visits, and leave knowing your effort supported a local community centre too. 🌴

From tiny, fluffy owlets to almost fully grown 🦉🥹

These three spotted eagle owlets have come a long way. Their adult feathers are coming through, and they've moved on to one of the final stages of their rehabilitation at the African Wildlife Orphanage in Zimbabwe, before they can hopefully return to the wild 🌿

Stories like this are the reason the orphanage exists, and it's the daily work behind the scenes that keeps it going. Volunteers on the Zimbabwe – African Wildlife Orphanage program pitch in with preparing animals' food, cleaning enclosures and supporting the orphanage's wildlife education work. Simple tasks, big payoff, which all adds up to moments like these 🧡

🌧️🐾 Rain day, and this serval went straight for the puddles 💦
Servals hunt by sound and smell, so wet ground full of new scents is basically a free playground. Volunteers on the Wild Cat Sanctuary and Kruger Safari program help with daily enrichment, but some days the weather does the work 😂

Two weeks ago, a two-month-old white rhino calf arrived at the Rhino Orphan Sanctuary severely underweight, dangerously dehydrated, with wounds on all four feet.

She was rushed into the clinic for emergency care, with IV fluids and plasma to stabilise her through those critical first days.

She still can't stand or suckle on her own. But she's swallowing milk from a syringe and taking small sips from a teat, and her latest blood results show a clear improvement.

There's a long road ahead, but every small step counts. 🦏💛

On our Giant Tortoise and Sea Turtle Conservation in the Galápagos Ecuador program, volunteers work alongside the national park team, patrolling the shoreline for nests and watching for hatchlings. 🌊

Sea turtle conservation, local tours and a whole lot of family time, all on the Sri Lankan coast 🐢🌊 Natasha brought her two kids along on our Family Sea Turtle program in Sri Lanka, and the three of them dove right in.

A Week Where Every Day at Sea Is Different 🌊

Some days start with the ocean full of life. Our partners recently shared a busy week on the water, with sharks circling the boat, rays gliding past, seals and penguins nearby, and even a whale mother with her calf. 💙

That's the magic of our Marine Big 5 Conservation volunteer program in South Africa. 🇿🇦

Work alongside marine biologists, help record sightings, support research, and educate visitors on ethical conservation. You can also lend a hand at the seabird sanctuary or join a community beach clean-up. No two days are ever the same.
