🦔🥹 Not one, not two, not even three… but EIGHT tiny hedgehogs now in our care! ❤️
This incredible little bunch is eating well, but they’re still so delicate and sensitive to temperature. Their eyes haven’t even opened yet! 🥺
They have a long little journey ahead of them, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Follow along as we give these tiny babies the care they need to grow and thrive! 🐾💛

So I was asked by the vets here at the Amazon Shelter to build a home

For this little guy - he is an opossum

It looks like he has a chimney

Blends in very nicely to his surroundings

And, I didn't lose any appendages 🖐🦶🦻👃💪👱🏽‍♀️ - check out my Canadian crocs!! Styling in the jungle

Day 2 - final day here with Jungle Keepers. This morning we were up before 6 am and started our hike at 6:30 am. We headed to check on our patient from yesterday. The walk takes 1 hour 30 minutes there and the same time back. On the way we collected fruit such as charichuelo or ocoró fruit (the bumpy yellow fruit). Inside are seeds covered in a tangy citrus flesh. It is definitely a thirst quencher when you need a pick me up.

We came across several types of fungi (aka mushrooms 🍄); a tree called a walking palm, spicy trees with spikes, ants 🐜, beetles 🪲, mud, mud, and more mud, as well as sounds of the jungle.

While on our way to see our patient, I took a bit of tumble - got my foot caught in a vine and went down like a sack of potatoes 🥔 😅, I immediately popped up saying 'I'm okay, I'm okay!!!'

Our patient is doing amazing, although he wouldn't come anywhere near us.

During our walk, I drank water from a cut branch. Best water I've had!!!

We had lots of laughs and chatter. I couldn't understand most of the chatter, but it was entertaining nonetheless 😄

When we arrived back to camp it was time for breakfast. After I ate, I found 2 tiny ticks on me. They were very small, but I felt them tickling my arm.

This has been an amazing 2 days. I cannot thank Fabi enough for allowing me the opportunity to assist and have this amazing adventure. Thank you as well to Sandra, Paulo, Leo and the staff at Jungle Keepers for their hospitality and welcoming me into their fold 💜 💜

Part 2 - as promised. We are back on the boat and we are headed to mark out the area where the Howler Monkey cage will be erected for the soft release

We've just started our hpur and a half walk and im already distracted. That is a giant mushroom growing on the cut section of a tree

Looks like something from the first season of True Detective

Wouldn't want to trip around this tree

Just a leisurely stroll through the jungle ... channeling my inner Jane looking for my Tarzan (Bill)

Yup, doesn't get any less creepy

This is called a 'monkey brush'. It comes from a tree referred to as a monkey bush. Catchy 🤪

It's scientific name is Apeiba membranacea Peine Mono; aka Maquisapa Ñaccha (The local Amazonian Quechua name, translating directly to "Spider Monkey's Comb")

🥚😂 Milo certainly has his own way of eating eggs! Instead of cracking it open and tucking in, he takes his time, carefully turning it into his very own little cup! 🥹
Which animal should we put to the egg test next? Drop your suggestions in the comments! 👇🐾

🥹🦉 What do you think of our newest arrivals? These two spotted eagle owlettes are absolutely tiny! Their eyes aren’t even open yet, and they still have their little egg beaks, which help them break out of their shells when hatching. Nature is incredible!
