We lost a musical giant. Jimmy Cliff had a spirit as wonderful as his voice. He was my very first favorite reggae artist. The Harder They Come soundtrack was my introduction to reggae in the late 70s. This album has influenced my taste as much any album I’ve owned. The 1982 double bill with Peter Tosh is probably the best reggae concert I’ve attended. Two legends, very different stylistically, on the same bill. Just an amazing show. Rest easy, Jimmy.

This was one of the first records I bought when I got back into vinyl nearly a decade ago. I overpaid for it because I wasn’t yet familiar with current record prices, but it was worth every penny. Just a wonderful comp. I really hadn’t listened to the Burritos prior to buying this. This album was my constant Sat/Sun morning companion for a year or so after I bought it. A lovely breakfast listen. And their cover of Wild Horses…..

It’s been a few days since the passing of reggae legend Max Romeo. War Ina Babylon falls somewhere in my top 10 reggae albums. An absolute classic. RIP.

I have two turntables in the house and both are out of commission at the moment so I decided to play some CDs today. I picked a couple of albums that I don’t have on vinyl. When I Was Cruel is one of my favorite latter day (post-1082) Elvis albums.
