Glenn Wolfson passed away last night. He was a friend, a mentor, and teacher. A man of unassailable character he was one of the first people to call me to welcome me to the Drew Estate family when I got hired in the winter of 2016. I was bottles deep into Bourbon County Stouts, a kid they picked up from the streets with zero professional cigar experience. I knew I hit the jackpot and I let him know!!

A leader who could never be outworked he set the pace and raised the bar because he believed in you and knew you had his back. Glenn loved to challenge us but he always took the time to call after a meeting to say he appreciated us and our hard work.

Glenn was going to ride into the sunset this year with a long planned retirement. When asked why he chose to work with a ragtag band of wildings he said he stayed because he loved us. A man who was not afraid to cry in a meeting, an unforgettable character that left you in awe of his mastery - a winner through and through.

That will be Glenn's legacy at Drew Estate - he taught us how to win. I am heartbroken with the news of someone who I looked up to, who leveled me up and everyone around me. Glenn was a man of class and grace. He was famous for the Glenn Wolfson hostage hour - one of the few times he would pull out the CEO card to tell each and every one of us why he loved us.

I will miss ranting about how bad the Bears and the Cubs were, I will miss the legendary wine he was always willing to share and teach you about, a standard bearer that will live in our hearts as a measure of a man. A transformational character in all of our lives - grateful to have been graced by his command. We will live to honor your legacy and keep our winning ways.

Once upon a time I worked in Corporate Finance for a living and lived in a world of numbers. In 2015 I came to La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate for the first time and fell in love with Nicaragua and this incredible factory.

Now just finished a day of work reviewing projects, tobacco inventory and availability, testing samples and imagining up people's next favorite cigar. I still work in a world of numbers, but it's easier to see the connection from farm to factory to HQ to stores to wherever our ever loyal fans smoke around the globe.

The future is always better than the past, my promise to you all is that we all work our hardest every day to keep this place as magical as the first time we stepped in. 📍Tam Tam nestled next to the Dad Courthouse in downtown Miami. When I see Viet places, I often wonder if it will be home cooking, fusion cooking, or its own style.

🦪Grilled Oysters -The salted egg hollandaise had a refined richness that was delicate and reminiscent of grilled clams and Pho Mai cheese in Vietnam

🥗Lotus Root Salad - Served with pork, shrimp, and a classic Viet slaw that gave it a nice bite. The rice crackers and peanuts gave it layer on layer of texture and contrast

🍖Glazed Tamarind Pork Ribs - Sticky icky and bad to the bone you can probably gain calories just looking at it. The caramelization achieved on the bark made it candy falling off the bone.

🌯Lamp Wrap Situation - If you like Vietnamese food you will enjoy assembling. Make your own lettuce wrap with a cornucopia of vegetables abd pickled elements. Very traditional.

🍗Tam Tam Chicken Wings - The Star of this show was so good we had to order another round. The crispiness of the high quality poultry along with their caramel sauce left me reminiscing about my favorite Korean Fried Chicken, Crisp in Chicago.

When a dish is so good you can stack it among the best you've ever had it is a testament to the skill in the kitchen. Great chefs take your places with their cuisine. The Viet spirit here lives on, the tables turned, the service was on point, and the kitchen kept on bringing the hits.
