A two week Guadalajara trip combined old friends and new! Met up with 3 guys I've known for over a decade - and a new one @eddie_brown9 that I'm sure I will! Put in a solid 25 hours of Spanish school too. Super amazing city, food, people, and an overall wonderful time. Miss all y'all!

Met this guy while I was shopping for a pillow. Ended up with no pillow but a new best friend!

Thank you @jozefchenjj for having us at your gym. The culture here is top notch, full of highly skilled players, all friendly and humble as they made me feel like I was a new white belt.

People will never forget how you made them feel.

After spending 10 days training and bonding together, my Chinese friend whom I haven't seen in two years, took the metro with me to the airport. When he had to transfer to go to his hometown, he left the train, standing there outside while the doors closed. I only saw his eyes just above the gate - blinking quickly - hoping I wouldn't catch the tear. ❤️ taken in Shanghai 上海外灘 by @gojavin

Excited to announce I've started training with @corvusgrappling under @andrisbrunovskis and @jake.ajj.

I can't say enough good things about these coaches and everyone I've met training there. It's all CLA all the time. Very efficient, well designed practices where you feel improvement every day.

First tournament back after ACL surgery 18 months ago. Big Adult division with 20 guys. Loved the fast scrambles with college wrestlers and a lot of close matches. Grateful to God for the chance to compete again. Thanks to everyone who showed up! by @gojavin

The Philippines surprised me this trip! Good training, amazing people. From a tight-knit gym in Naic to late-night jeepney rides home, this community is something special. Full story below.

A year ago I was rehabbing my knee at @v2.fitnessgym in Naic — a small town in Cavite where fitness isn't really a thing. First day in, I met @coach_jcas and his brother @_kkraam, two guys with Muay Thai experience who quickly became familiar faces. I had no idea how much those connections would mean to me.

Fast forward to this trip — @jffightacademy officially opened its doors the last day of my trip. The only full-time fight gym within 1.5 hours, right here in Naic, with no-gi grappling starting this week. So proud of these guys for following their passion and making it happen for this community.

On the competition side, huge gratitude to @wallentado_mma for welcoming me at his team in Imus. These guys - friends from childhood - train 4+ hours a day, 6 days a week. @_jhnn.rsshin @thejastroyer @_josh_rm, @danielarayata.ibjjf you all push me every time.

I also had the opportunity to roll with some of the top black belts in the country — all my size — @brndmx @ton_ton_uy @aldojitsu, and up-and-coming teen prodigy @xthehello, not to mention the killer white belt @kenmvlan who I encouraged to enter his first tournament. He took 2nd.

At @boholislandjj along with many skilled players, I shared the mats with three first-timers. Shoutout to 18-year-old @g.cabagnotjr who was so lit up afterwards he couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had. That energy is everything.

But the night I'll remember most wasn't the hard comp rounds or the black belt rolls. It was a Friday night at @z3p_d4tu_'s office with mats rolled out. I coached for a couple hours and rolled with everyone. I was about to book a private car back to Naic when @irojbuenviaje and @notrildm said they were heading my way on the jeepney.

So I went with them. An hour and a half of stories, laughter, and an unmuffled exhaust rattling through the night. I came to that practice alone and left with 15 new friends.
