Jane Lombard Gallery is pleased to present Soft Structures, a group exhibition of new work by ten artists whose primary medium is textile. Working in tapestry weaving, machine knitting, hand sewing, and embroidery, each of the artists in Soft Structures cultivates a deeply personal relationship to material and technique.

On a quick trip to Atlanta to celebrate my dad’s birthday and I had a beautiful trip to see the Dior show at @scadfashiondesign. The first show of its kind to present the work of the Dior Atelier in a design education venue. So so lovely and fortifying. 🖤 So much drawing! and Gallianos mark making on the fabric and Sheila Hicks collab and Raf Simons dresses I’ve never seen IRL. I could’ve included 1 billion pics. Wednesday in Tribeca with Professional Practice students from Montclair State. 🍁 So many excellent excellent shows up right now (as the world heaves and lurches along). + lovely gallery owners and minders who were willing to talk to us about viable business models and display methodologies and inventories — the nuts and bolts of actual gallery life. 🙏 by @goldmontclair

This is a bit of a latergram. I managed to see the beautiful Nanette Carter exhibition curated by Mary Birmingham @curator_mcb at the Montclair Art Museum on its very last day. Formally near perfect and also very moving. taken in Montclair, New Jersey by @goldmontclair

📣 Meet Jen Wroblewski, curator of our current group exhibition “Soft Structures”, on view through August 8th!

Jen Wroblewski, b. 1973 California, is an artist, curator, and professor. Her primary curatorial interests are material fluency and presence of hand. Recent projects include Gold Montclair (2018-2024), a contemporary art space in Montclair NJ, where she platformed work by a roster of 80+ undervalued emerging and mid-career artists, with exhibitions reviewed in Two Coats of Paint, Hyperallergic, AnteMag, and Maake. Wroblewski co-curated “Unblocked: Improvisation and Identity in Contemporary Quilts,” with Mary Birmingham at the Hunterdon Art Museum, with work by Basil Kincaid, Sarah Nishiura, Zak Foster, Chawne Kimber, Coulter Fussell, Krystle Lemonias, Sherri Lynn Wood, Kwesi O. Kwarteng, Elizabeth Brandt, and Melanie Tuazon.

Her drawings have been exhibited widely and discussed in the New York Times, the Brooklyn Rail, and many other books and periodicals. She is the recipient of a NYFA Fellowship, the AIR Fellowship, and the Radius Fellowship from the Aldrich Museum of Art. She currently teaches in the visual arts department at Montclair State University and in the Hilliard College of Architecture and Design at NJIT.
