My beloved uncle, Larry Thompson is now an ancestor. He wasn’t just one of my favorite humans, he was my bonus dad who was the most consistent and present man in my life. He put me on a plane to St. Louis for the first time at 7 years old and altered the trajectory of my life. It’s no understatement to say that I wouldn’t be who I am without him. He was the most grounded, funniest, and kindest person I’ve ever met who loved you through his food. What a wonderful world it was with him in it and I am so grateful to have been his niece. A few weeks ago I set an intention to
move my body more and build community in Baltimore (and beyond).

So I created a walking clarity challenge, put it out into the world, and asked if anyone wanted to join me. My goal was 30 people. 28 said yes. In April we walked over 1.6 million steps together 🙌🏽.

But the steps weren’t the point. We finally asked ourselves the questions we’d been avoiding for months. We carved out time for ourselves (without apologizing for it), and we dreamed new dreams about what’s possible for our lives.

Does any of this sound like you?

I can’t believe my baby brother Ronald would have been 40 years old today. The calendar in my room is set to December 5th year round and is my daily reminder that he’s still with us in spirit. He was the smartest, sweetest, funniest person I knew and the world just isn’t the same without him in it. Missing him fiercely today and everyday. When I was little, I used to obsess over Disney movies. Cinderella. The Little Mermaid. I internalized the idea that someone else would come rescue me. That love (in the form of a prince) would be the thing that saved me.

But what I couldn’t have known then was that both of those princesses were living lives they needed saving from.
And so was I.

In my 20s, I became the version of myself I thought I was supposed to be, chasing love, approval, and identity in all the wrong places. In my 30s, the handsome prince became a beautiful princess 🌈 and fairytales were back — but in an unexpected package.
Love was real. Deep. Healing.
But it didn’t arrive how I imagined.

And now in my 40s?

I’ve been the one slaying all the dragons.
Braving the wilderness.
Choosing myself.
Becoming the hero I was waiting for.

I wish I could hug my younger self and tell her:
You don’t need saving.
You need clarity.
You need to stop outsourcing your power and remember:

✨ You are the magic.
✨ You are the answer.
✨ You are the one you’ve been waiting for.

And if you’ve been feeling stuck, uncentered, or out of alignment lately, it’s not because something is wrong with you.

At 42, one thing I know for sure is this: The Universe is always listening. Not just to what we say but to what we settle for. Lately, I’ve been having brutally honest conversations with myself about the life I want… and whether my actions actually reflect that truth. I’ve been re-evaluating everything —
The way I rest.
The way I love.
The way I lead.

I’m not just dreaming about my next chapter. I’m running in its direction. I can feel it in my bones. I can taste it in the way I say yes now. It’s a life of joy, ease, belly laughs with my future wife. A life rooted in freedom, truth, and desire not fear, hustle, or sacrifice.
