For Immediate Release:
At its meeting on Thursday, January 23rd, City Council unanimously appointed Matt Cole as Ridgefield’s Mayor and Judy Chipman as Mayor Pro Tem.

After accepting the role, Mayor Cole expressed gratitude to his fellow Council members for their trust, to recent former mayors for their inspirational leadership, and to the community for being engaged. He praised the Ridgefield community’s dedication to supporting one another, preserving a small-town identity and remaining invested in our shared future.

“That’s the kind of city that I want to be a leader in,” said Cole. “We are best when we work together. Community engagement, smart growth, and a careful balance between progress and preservation will be my guiding principles as Mayor. We can honor our past while building the future that lifts everybody up.”

Cole and Chipman will serve as Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem for the remainder of the 2024-2025 term.

Introducing George Pierre St. Cloud 😍

Georgie is a 12 week puppy who was rescued by @sammys_animalrescue earlier in September. Upon rescue it was determined that his right front leg needed to be amputated. From that moment on, it felt like we were destined to be together. Thank you to @saracate27 for opening your heart and home to dogs in need, and making them feel seen, known and loved.

We are smitten, welcome to the family sweet boy. You are loved! @gomattcole @mckenzielcole @lincolnjmcole taken in Ridgefield, Washington by @gomattcole

Let’s get into it!!

We’re continuing our Mayors Talk Arts series with Ridgefield Mayor Matt Cole.

Policy, funding, prioritization, economic development, community building… we’re interviewing mayors across Clark County to hear about what’s going on in arts, culture, and heritage in their cities.

It’s all on the table.

McKenzie is raising money for cheer camp.

If you’re interested in purchasing cookies send me a DM.

She has a goal of $800 to get to there. If you’d also like to donate to help her reach her goal, see the link in my story.

Today the Clark County Council took a significant step forward for Ridgefield.

They voted to largely support the DEIS Alternative 2, which means our Urban Growth Area expansions, the 1,261 jobs, the 840 affordable housing units, and the targeted and responsible growth our community planned for in those areas stay on the table.

This didn't happen by accident. It happened because our community did the work, our Council held the line, and we made the case clearly and together.

More to come as this process moves forward. But today, Ridgefield's vision is intact. I am grateful to our staff, partners, and my fellow council members for the extensive work we did to preserve the long-term vision for our community. taken in Ridgefield, Washington by @gomattcole
