Thou Swell - Charlie Parker Washington Concerts 5/14

I filmed this a few months ago but forgot to upload it for some reason. Such a beautiful song! Again some difficult double time phrases, but I did my best.

Hayseed - Cannonball Adderley's solo

Happy heavenly birthday to Cannonball Adderley!
One of the most influential alto players ever, he's also a deep favorite of mine, his band with Nat Adderley is the quintessential "sound of joy" to me.

I love this album (To The Ivy League From Nat Adderley) a ton, and this song especially. A welcome short break from the long and difficult Bird solo I'm working on.

Blues For Philly Joe - Sonny Rollins

Crazy solo! Another Rollins solo before I go back to Bird, I think this one showcases his genius very well. He manages to endlessly tweak these motifs without ever repeating himself - always playing them a bit differently. It was very hard to memorize!

Pent-Up House - Sonny Rollins solo

After his passing a few weeks ago, I've been trying to immerse myself in Rollins' music more. This album (Plus 4) is one of my all time favorites, with perfect Clifford Brown solos as well. Sonny always brings unexpected rhythmic variations and motifs to his solos, it's pure genius!

I'm working on another one of his solos before I return to bird, so stay tuned for that.

Light Green - Charlie Parker
Washington Concerts 4/14

An amazing blues solo! Matching the double-time lines was as hard as ever.

Fine And Dandy - Charlie Parker
The Washington Concerts 3/14

Amazing solo! I practiced it a lot, I think the double-time lines are tighter than they were on the previous solo. The Parker project continues!

These Foolish Things - Charlie Parker
The Washington Concerts 2/14

This is the second solo from The Washington Concerts I learned, and I decided to try and learn all of the solos on that album - I love it very much. Wish me luck!

Beautiful ballad playing, I couldn't get all the double-time lines exactly right but I gave it my best shot.

Bill Evans on Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams

Ever since @bruceontrumpet featured this recording on his new video series, I've been listening to this album (Interplay-1963) non-stop! This track in particular swings beautifully.

Transcribing piano solos is fun and refreshing, I should do it more often - I love Bill's feel on this.

Warne Marsh on Blues By Lester

I've been on a Warne Marsh kick lately, this is my first time transcribing him - what a gold mine! Super innovative and out of the box lines.
