PORTLAND, IT’S TIME TO GET BREADY 🥖🔥

Bread Fest is back, and we’re bringing together the bakers, pastry wizards, flour nerds, and all-around food people who make this community so damn good.

What started as a celebration of bread has grown into something much bigger — a gathering of the people who make it, the people who love it, and everyone who knows a good loaf is worth getting out of bed for.

Come hungry. Leave with a full bag. Probably eat something in the car.

I finally did it! 🎨🖌️
I opened my notebook for the first time in two months... 😆💦

Two days before moving to Georgia, a friend invited me to a "food sketch meetup"—a final memory to cherish in Portland 🥯✨

I hadn't realized it was organized by my fellow sketcher @lineandwave until I arrived, so I was thrilled to reunite with them before heading off!
I sketched while snacking on delicious samples from the vendors and chatting away ✒️📔

I managed to get the rough sketch done, thinking I’d finish the piece during the long flight out of Portland two days later, but I ended up having absolutely no time for it... ✈️

After arriving in Georgia, traveling, house-hunting, and finally settling into my new life, it took another two months before I opened that notebook again 😅

Two whole months… Portland feels like a distant, fond memory now.

ベンダーの美味しい試食をつまんだり、お話を聞きながらスケッチ✒️📔

下描きまでして、2日後ポートランドを発ち、長いフライト中に仕上げようと思っていたのが、結局そんな時間は全く取れず…✈️

ジョージアへの移動、旅行、家探し、そしてやっと生活が落ち着いてきてノートを開いたのは2ヶ月後だった😅

OVEN IS FIXED, but, we will still be closed today. All our bread is long fermented sourdough so today we are setting up for our big market tomorrow @pd_culinaryfarmersmarket as well as our storefront and bread for our restaurant partners!

We will be CLOSED today 8/16. No storefront, no @pd_culinaryfarmersmarket and no bread for our accounts.

Unfortunately our oven stopped working yesterday, and through every effort made, we cannot get it to fire. We've been working to get this issue fixed over the last few weeks, but the tipping point came too quickly. I spent most of yesterday and all of overnight trying to get it to heat up, to no avail.

We expect to be back up and running smoothly next week. Thank you for your patience with our growing pains. taken in Portland, Oregon by @gooddoughpdx

You know what’s amazing about sourdough?

You take flour, water, salt, and a little bit of time and somehow end up with a loaf that looks like it has better internal architecture than most new apartments in Portland.

Look at that crumb. Open, irregular, beautiful. Not because we poked holes in it with a fork and called it “artisan.”

Fermentation did that.

Nature did that.

We just tried not to screw it up.

A Love Letter to Bread.

People always come in and ask us if we make our bread in house and we gladly get to tell them that no one, not even us, can beat what they are baking just eight blocks away at @gooddoughpdx.

Run by two of the sweetest people you’ll meet, they put so much care into every loaf they bake, and you can taste it. We love getting to support another small business that’s putting so much heart into what they do, especially one that’s just down the street.

Cheers to good neighbors, talented bakers and perfect bread.
