Telling stories of inspiring people through photography.
A project by @andyjweber
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Last week, I had the honor of hosting some truly inspiring individuals who have helped shape @goodhumansclt into what it is today.

I wanted an opportunity to thank them for their time, honesty, trust, and kindness—for being part of this project and allowing me to share a piece of their story.

I’m still searching for the right words because that night turned out to be far more meaningful than I ever expected.

I’m excited to keep the momentum going and to listen and share impactful stories, like I said that night, I’m proud to be a cheerleader on the sidelines—watching and celebrating all the incredible work these people do for our communities, the city of Charlotte, their families, and friends.

Thank you to @giacomo_yoder and his wonderful team @notjustcoffee for their space to host us. The legendary @defalcodefalco and the fine team @eatpizzababy for providing some of the best food Charlotte has to offer, you are just the best. To @bryaniscreating for your friendship and guidance to help get this project off the ground and to my amazing wife @nicoleweber__ for allowing me the love, time, space and support for everything I try and accomplish, always.

“I went to a normal appointment and I just felt something was off. The appointment was over and I just said I just have one more thing I’m so sorry. I noticed that I just haven’t gotten that belly. Is that odd? It’s my first child. Am I crazy? The books say you should have it. And that’s when they saw the baby had stopped growing. It was under distress. If I hadn’t had that brief moment to be like “hey, what’s going on?” It’s these moments of asking another question, just keep going and just keep asking. I’m an intuitive person, my goals are around energy. That’s where I’m really proud is that I have really been trying to lean into my intuition and who cares if the doctor thinks I’m crazy for asking another question when I think something is wrong.” taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @goodhumansclt

“I love hospitality, and I love connecting with people. That’s where my work with Greys and Constance feels so fulfilling. We talk a lot about this as a company, when you can bring a group of people together who need to unwind and simply be with each other for a few hours, it’s a beautiful thing to witness. How lucky are we to be able to provide those spaces? Being able to give back and play even a small part in that means a lot to me. We always try to transform food into love on a plate for people who need it most. Whether it’s delivering meals to treatment centers or providing meals through our restaurants, it’s incredibly meaningful. Reading the letters and hearing how nutrition and food have truly helped people reminds me why this work matters. These are the little things we often take for granted, but they can make a huge difference for people who struggle to access something as essential as a daily meal. I’m proud of the work this team does every day.” taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @goodhumansclt

“I’m proud of being an immigrant. It completely changed and shaped my life, and I wouldn’t be who I am without that part of my story. I arrived here in middle school. I had an accent, I stood out, and I got bullied for it. I felt left out. I tried really hard to fit in. I watched hours of Disney Channel and repeated everything I heard to get rid of my accent so I could be like “one of them.” What I have come to realize is that this experience sets me apart and it has shaped me into who I am today. That sense of belonging became so important to me and part of it found a home in my photography. I’m drawn to documenting how people belong to a place, how they exist within their communities, and when someone steps in front of my camera, I want them to feel seen exactly as they are. Everything you go through, you can take and alchemize into something that pushes you forward.” taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @goodhumansclt

“Our community is so talented. Everywhere I turn, I’m meeting a new person, a new artist, or discovering a new spot. Then I think about how I wouldn’t be where I am without the support and belief of other people, too. It’s great to know that, through the experiences I’ve had in my creative career, I can now provide that perspective to other artists. My job with Charlotte Is Creative is so important because we have the opportunity to help and advocate for artists as they grow and receive these opportunities. It’s more of an advocacy role now, and that’s really exciting for me.” taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @goodhumansclt

“Our team is incredibly protective of one another, and it’s amazing to see. Everyone looks out for each other, our guests, our neighbors, and our community, that’s what matters most. Being able to serve our community means everything to us. It’s hard work, but we love it more than anything. There’s something very serendipitous about this space. We never advertised that we were hiring our team found us, and together they’ve created this incredible nucleus that allows Amber and me to truly focus on what we need to. Even if the restaurant only ever breaks even for the rest of our lives, we would still feel deeply fulfilled by the joy this space brings to us and our community.” taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @goodhumansclt
