earlier this year in july i left melbourne, spending 10 days in sydney before moving to the northern rivers. i barely told anyone; it felt like a move i had to make quietly and privately. not how i had been in the past, where i would announce each move publicly, mostly in real-time.

as time passed that intuitive voice morphed into avoidance. a contrast to the degree i was sharing earlier in the year. a dramatic push and pull, at times like my relating, my relationship to this space echoing ways i sometimes do/n't show up offline.

the last few months have, yet again — or still — been very difficult. eclipses, abandonment, triggers turned up to the highest degree. trying, trying, trying to make things work. not failing per se but only just getting by. having only been just getting by for years now.

within all of this, pockets of meaningful connection — sometimes with people, most often with nature. bundjalung country can be a real gift. even with all my mixed emotions the appreciation i have for its natural beauty is easy to access.

the places i connected with most; a particular stretch of beach at broken head and the ti-tree lake close by. i was often enamoured by the patterns in the sand, water, sky. and wategos, for the moments of calm & watching the dolphins play.

[part 1] by @goodjuju________

it's been a long time since i've shared a personal post. as someone deeply in tune with my self, aware of many patterns, i can't help but notice that around may each year comes a rebirth of sorts. the first and third quarters of the year often marred by depressions (mental, spiritual, or otherwise).

this may, and the rebirth that came, was particularly potent. partially, perhaps, thanks to the fact that i have for the most part exited my first saturn return. a cycle that began in march 2023 that required a deep excavation; a (re)assessment of many facets of my life.

but may. staying in 4 different places, starting therapy again, rediscovering my style, at one point being incredibly physically sick. full of change, which has become a constant. not a bad thing — a superpower of sorts to be so adaptable in these uncertain & challenging times. i'm aware of the skills i am building, of the trust in self i am cultivating. a trust only possible after such reality-shattering ruptures. in time it all makes sense.

i'm reclaiming and honouring different parts of my self. sharing truth and care and expression. receiving. healing. it feels important to mention my gratitude to those that have helped in tangible ways in this unsteady time; the accomodation, the donations to my gofundme, the words of support. help that has allowed me to grow into fuller expressions of myself. to access real gratitude & joy again after so long.

at times it's scary and challenging. it's also really, really wonderful. i am re—learning to be thankful and grounded in this life. by @goodjuju________

as the year turns over on the gregorian calender and i slowly enter the year, i'm reflecting on • one • a beautiful event that took place on thursday 12.12

a space to dream, that in a flash turned to a place where my grief could quietly release. all steps necessary to create space for the new.

thank you to the wonderful musicians for your ethereal, world-building performances @hextape.wav @k2962962962961 @inasay_

the artists who's unique works really made the space a sanctuary for those in attendance @metal__bender @spiraro__ @victoria.stolz

geordie & @six12.naarm for the physical space

those that leant a hand, those that leant tender support, those that shared sweet words

& all who attended, for a space like this is truly made by everyone that is a part of it 🤍

one is a space to gather, to listen, to share, to dream. to dream is to think about our desires. to dream is to be able to imagine a greater future, for the collective(s) and for ourselves as individuals. that is why it is the first step.

dreaming is something that i personally struggle with. i am not a daydreamer. because of the worlds current construction, there is not much room for this. so often we are not afforded the time or space.

yet it is so important that we allow ourselves that space, that grace, that room for our imagination to expand and express. there is so much magic and energy and excitement that can come from this process. one that can fill us with a velocity to propel us into a beautiful future together.

i am so excited to share this next event with you, the timing & intention of this aligns so well with the pluto-aquarius transit that has just taken place. i am honoured to have these visual and sonic artists joining me for the evening; each embodies a dreamy, creative, totally unique spark. i am delighted to curate an event in the nicholas building as it is a space i actually have been dreaming of hosting in for years. it feels very cool to use this photograph that i captured ten years ago(!) for the poster. taken in 2014, it is one of my earliest film photographs.

i mean it when i say this is an intimate venue; if you would like to experience the evening please do purchase a ticket. the link is where links are. if finances are a barrier, please reach out.

i hope you can join in this dreaming space.

with love,

i am so excited to be curating & making space & bringing people together again after such a long hiatus. zero for me is truly about new beginnings, about doing things in a slow, sustainable, embodied way. about nourishing what you plant in the ground. for the roots to move deep so that you stay grounded as you grow. it is earth-based. it is steeped in a desire to connect & express each contributors magic & essence.

i am honoured to be marking this reemergence at the library portal. this space is so much magic within itself & has been integral in my ability to reconnect to my self & community after such a dark time. the portal opened, & slowly, i found a lot of light.

the people that are coming together to contribute to this event are wonderful, deeply talented humans. all with their own strong spirit & dedication to their creative expression. i am looking forward to sharing a new project with you under the moniker zuzu, a hybrid set with j.d, someone who is endlessly inspiring.

thank you eos for lending your intricate & heart-felt drawings for the poster. thank you already, for each person who’s shared their energy to make this happen. for those that have already bought tickets. for those that haven’t, please do. invite your friends. there’s limited tickets & i would love to have you.

i hope you can make it. it’s going to be beautiful. by @goodjuju________

tonight i submitted a short reflection for the Arteles residency catalogue, and it feels strange to reflect on that time for a few reasons: it’s my last eve overseas, so much has passed in the 3 weeks since leaving, and it feels so long ago now.

it was accompanied by these self-portraits, and i feel like share my writing below, so here you go.

* * *

my time at Arteles consisted of deep healing. i read a lot, wrote a lot, and cried. a lot. there were many times where i didn’t know if i was crying from pain or gratitude, likely both or really any number of feeling combinations you could think of at the same time.

i deepened my practice of being still; so much time spent staring out my window, napping for hours each afternoon, introducing meditation into my loose routine. i found space in the stillness, and this space provided a way for my emotions to move freely.

the meditation space in the yellow house was a significant space for me. a lot of emotional processing and physical healing of old injuries and nervous system memories took place in that space. i meditated. i conversed. i danced. i cried. i moved. i was still. on the leo new moon i facilitated a sound meditation for the residents, weaving together music from my almost 5-year collection and incorporating the singing bowls in this process. this also marked the exact halfway point of the residency.

i was able to go deeper within myself than i had ever had the ability to before. no phone, no wifi, no real distractions. i am certain that as i embrace more movement in my life again, it will be different, thanks to the stillness. and thanks to the magic of @artelescreativecenter. by @goodjuju________

a mixture of the first and last days during my time at @artelescreativecenter , working my way backwards :

1. the final morning from my favourite vantage point
2. a picture of @sarahhoogman and mama lou, who i have such fond memories with (both sarah and the car!) this human is a hilarious ray of light who really grounded me in my time here
3. the metza just yesterday morning. the forest surrounding arteles had a way of eliciting every emotion, and always holding me when i needed it. i have such deep gratitude for the spirit, energy and aliveness of this land
4. chanterelles drying in the yellow house window, with more morning fog. the foggy mornings were always so so dreamy
5. near-full moon on my last eve, arrival & departure being marked by this beautiful being. funnily the only times we were able to spot the moon in the entire month
6. visiting Nancy Holt’s “Up & Under” which i loved; a site rich with choreographic possibility. if you look really close you can spot @franchicky
7. incredible patterns in nature, of which was abundant on this beautiful land
8. sun-down via my bedroom window. i spent so much time staring into this stoic yet ever-changing scene. to be mesmerised by looking out the window is a wonderful thing
9. day two visiting the closest lake; my only regret during this time at arteles was not making it out on the boat
10. waking up on my first morning. this mirror broke a few days later, although i wasn’t in the room at the time. lots of very strange and funny things happened in these last four weeks

barely a wrap-up considering that i did not have my phone to take photos for the majority of august — i documented this experience in other ways, lots of writing and analogue photographs. people & places & moments that made my time that are not referenced here. processing 🌀 and grateful ✨ and ready to re-emerge after an intense month in the depths of healing 🌪 excited to see what will come after this time to really slow down & connect with concepts & selves i have not for a long time 🤍 by @goodjuju________
