Every Child. Every Neighborhood.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
To every district we partner with — congratulations. 💛

You showed up for your students every single day of 2025-2026. The early mornings. The tough calls. The small wins that add up to something bigger.

We saw the work. And we’re just getting started.

New year, same goal: more students walking into schools that set them up to thrive, in the classroom and on a path to a living-wage career.

We’re proud to do this work alongside you.

So here’s to the year ahead. Let’s make it a good one.

Happy back to school, Houston! 👏

The best ideas about Houston’s schools come from the people who know this city best. 💛

On Oct. 3, residents, students, artists and neighbors filled the Greater Third Ward for the Houston Futures Festival, a day of connection and live performances honoring the neighborhood’s history and culture.

Good Reason Houston’s Stefanie Cruz, managing director of Community Voice, and Sara Sands Francis, managing director of Data Impact and Strategy, hosted a community table on where public education stands across the Houston region.

They also led a workshop, “The Future of Education.” Participants imagined the Houston of 2040, then worked backward to ask what needs to be true in our schools today so students can thrive in that future.

Public education is Houston’s most powerful engine of economic opportunity, and shaping its future starts with conversations like these, right in the neighborhoods where students live and learn.

What would you want education in Houston to look like in 2040? Tell us in the comments. 👇

@spring.isd's youngest learners are off to a strong start. 💛

Good Reason Houston and Spring ISD used local data to decide where to open new pre-K3 classrooms. The early results are promising: At the start of pre-K4, 71% of students who had attended pre-K3 met the letter naming benchmark, compared with 39% of students new to pre-K.

That means more kids building the reading skills they need before kindergarten.

In Baltimore, our team and Spring ISD presented this work at the @strivetogether Cradle to Career Network Convening. Education leaders from across the country explored how their own data can open doors for more children.

We asked three pre-K students what they want to be when they grow up. 🎥✨ Let’s just say — Houston’s future is in very good hands.

A construction worker. 👷 A doctor. 👩⚕️ A princess in a castle. 👸 (We support all career paths here.)

These little ones are already dreaming big. Free pre-K helps them build the skills — in reading, math, and confidence — to chase every single one of those dreams.

And behind them? A whole community of teachers, school leaders, and neighbors across Houston cheering them on every step of the way. 💛

Enrollment closes at the mid-October ADA count — so now is the time.

👉 Enroll your child in free pre-K today and give them the start they deserve. See the link in our bio to check if you qualify.

Houston teachers, this one's for you. 🎒💙

To kick off Humankind Month, 70 @chevronhouston volunteers packed 3,400 care kits for educators and staff at 33 campuses across the Houston region. Each one holds snacks, hydration packets, hand cream and a brand-new sticker sheet.

Thank you, volunteers, for showing up for the people who show up for our students every day.

Teachers sit at the center of every strong school. And right now, the people leading our schools are working hard to keep them there.

Several Houston-area superintendents and talent leaders recently sat down for a panel at Leadership Houston to talk through the real decisions shaping public education today. The honest theme running through it all: districts are being asked to do more with less.

When enrollment shifts, funding often drops. But the costs of buildings, buses, and staff stay steady. That leaves leaders making tough calls about where every dollar goes.

Here’s how they’re working to invest in teachers anyway:
📌 Raising pay through the Teacher Incentive Allotment, performance-based compensation, and stipends for hard-to-staff roles
📌 Growing the next generation of educators with Grow Your Own programs and alternative certification pathways, especially for special education and bilingual classrooms
📌 Opening more doors for families through CTE, Early College, Pre-K3, and virtual learning

The takeaway was clear. Great teachers make great schools possible. Building that workforce takes competitive pay, real chances to grow, and teachers having a genuine voice in the decisions that shape their classrooms.

That’s the kind of conversation Houston needs more of.

What would make the biggest difference for teachers in your community? Tell us below. 👇

What happens when the right voices come together for our youngest learners? Something powerful. 💛

Nearly 40 education, community, and early childhood leaders gathered for Good Reason Houston’s public Pre-K Roundtable, in partnership with Harris County Precincts 2 and 4.

Together, they shared ideas and explored real ways to strengthen pre-K across Harris County:
✨ Stronger access to early learning
✨ Higher quality classrooms
✨ Deeper family engagement
✨ New partnerships across the community

Every child deserves a strong start. When we work together, we build better pathways for our youngest learners and a stronger future for all of Houston.

Follow along as we keep this work moving forward for Houston’s kids. 👇

Meet “The Livable Wage Guy.” 👷

Patrick Gill and the Good Reason Houston team brought some of Houston’s education players into one room: Houston City College, Houston ISD, BridgeYear, and Greater Houston Partnership.

The goal? Real pathways into skilled trades like HVAC, welding, electrical, plumbing and many more.
These are the careers that pay. The kind that give students options long after graduation.

Building them takes hard work and people who show up ready to do it. That’s exactly what happened here.

Every step forward is a step toward more Houston graduates earning a living wage.

Which trade would you want to learn? Drop it below. 👇
