People think a neighborhood walk will tire their dog out— chances are, at the end of the walk your dog is still full of energy. There are so many more things you can do with them. Hiking, walks in the park, structured play through tug or fetch, working on positioning, new tricks, take them to the beach. Go show your dog the world. They’re only here for a short amount of time. #sfv dogtraining #ladogs #puppy losangelesdogs sanfernandovalley by @goodsnoot

You are your dog’s biggest advocate. It’s okay to ask for space if you’re working around something challenging. But be prepared that sometimes things come out of nowhere or people don’t listen to or respect those boundaries. Try to stay calm and guide them through what you’re working on. Running and yelling won’t help your dog in that moment. #dogtraining #sfv #losangelesdogs #puppy by @goodsnoot

Happy birthday to this boy🩵🩵🩵
One of the most incredible dogs I’ve ever come across. He continues to amaze me every day. I’m forever grateful he came into my life when he did and has become the best side kick I could ever ask for :’)

sunrise hikes with trained dogs are the best🧡
catching them looking out into the mountains, stalking birds, sniffing coyote poo😂and running in the dirt before the heat kicks in…truly the best way to start the day🫶🏼✨ by @goodsnoot

If you want long lasting behavioral changes you have to be consistent and continue practicing. Behaviors that have been working for your dog for years don’t change overnight. You have to remain consistent and continue training to see the results. #dogtraining #sanfernandovalley #doglife #puppy #la by @goodsnoot

Whether your dog is with me for an hour, a day, or a week, you will be getting frequent updates, and real updates. You get videos, photos, descriptions of their demeanor, and full transparency. If I ever see anything unusual you will know. I want you to see what we work on and why. Taking care of your pups is an honor— I will love them as my own, and ALWAYS keep you in the loop. #dogtraining #sfv #losangelesdogs #pup by @goodsnoot

A lot of owners are told that snuffle mats, puzzle toys, and lick mats will stimulate their dog’s mind and help with reactivity. But what happened to the idea of letting dogs be dogs? Going outside. Going on adventures. When your dog is reactive, keeping them cooped up indoors might feel like the only solution. But I’m here to tell you it’s not. So many dogs come to me struggling with reactivity that is rooted, at least in part, in not being mentally or physically fulfilled, and these are often dogs that are being given plastic puzzles. If your dog isn’t ready for a big open field, start on the side walk, start in a yard, or start in your home—but the goal should be to get your dog’s nose in some grass and dirt, where they’re meant to be. #dogtraining #sfv #losangeles #puppy #offleash by @goodsnoot

Stop avoiding things your dog deems stressful or scary right off the bat. When you continue avoiding it reinforces this idea that whatever it is is scary and flight is the best option.
Instead make sure you have these down:
1. Ensure you have a solid bond and proper way to communicate with your dog.
2. Can you ask them to do things easily in a low distraction environment?
3. Does your dog trust your guidance even when there is pressure involved?
4. Gradually increase distractions and work towards moving through things they are nervous about.
5. Show them something isn’t scary by walking through it together first.
6. Properly time leash pressure, release of leash pressure, and rewards.
