I made several sketches 🖼️📝, the first three from paintings by José de Ribera, a Spanish Baroque painter and Caravaggesque artist. Ribera evolved from ❣️tenebrism❣️to a brighter and more colorful style, influenced by Venetian painting. Tenebrism (from the Italian tenebroso, meaning «dark») describes a painting style characterized by deep shadows and sharp contrasts between light and dark areas. I also made sketches of St. Peter from paintings by Rubens and Caravaggio, featuring contrasting chiaroscuro. And the last sketches of St. Peter: Rembrandt, Guercino, and Gerard Seghers 💙 by @gorevaanastasia

«Sport and Revolution. An Athlete’s Everyday Life.» Oil on canvas, 140cm x 90cm. In this painting, I depicted everything I love 🫶: different types of cheese🧀, berries 🍓, nuts, and protein. I conceived this still life as a true celebration 🍾 of life, sports 🏋️‍♀️🏋️🏅. I wanted to return to the Renaissance, the glorification of man and his potential. I love sports myself and have been training 🏋️ a lot for the last year; the gym has become as much a regular activity for me as painting🖼️. What does revolution have to do with this? As you already know, I am literally obsessed with the theme of the Russian Civil War (1917-1922) and the first decade after its end. That’s why in the background is the 1927 poster «Sport and Revolution,» where an athlete is depicted holding a rifle and proposing to change the world 🌎. By the way, in the reflection, I’m wearing a red headscarf, which was fashionable in Russia in the 1920s. I’m holding a red ball, and I believe: people are strong, people can do a lot, people are the pinnacle of creation! Being strong and smart is wonderful!!!! In my painting «Heavenly Horses» each horse is depicted in a different religious or cultural tradition. This demonstrates the importance and reverence of horses across all nations and religions. Directly above my head is an ancient Russian icon of «St. George the Victorious.» He sits on a graceful white horse, a style of depicting the animal adopted from Byzantine masters. To his right hangs a still life by Pushman, depicting a horse 🐴 in the tradition of Ancient China. Above are two paintings by the enigmatic artist Nicholas Roerich. One of his paintings depicts horses and camels during the journey of a Chinese princess. As surprising as it may sound, I am actually holding a mug in the shape of the head of the Ancient Greek god Apollo. The god of art and beauty, he was known for his love of horses. In myth and art, his image is associated with the horse as a symbol of speed, light, and dawn, but he is also directly linked to horses in poetic imagery, as in the lines «And Apollo rode into the city on a morning horse.» He drew the sun across the sky in his chariot, drawn by horses.

Thus, providence itself: 2026 – the Year of the Horse – and Apollo, the God of Art, inspired me to create this painting. The canvas wonderfully intertwines ancient masterpieces with completely new 21st-century pieces. My favorite sheepskin bag, a gray Labubu, and a pink Hagi-Wagi lie in the foreground. 🇨🇳CHINA🇨🇳🐼 my sketches💙🙏💙🍵 Now I continue my journey 🧳 Japan 🇯🇵, Bali 🇮🇩, Vietnam 🇻🇳, Thailand 🇹🇭 and finally China 🇨🇳. I am amazed by the color of each country, as an artist 👩‍🎨 I am very glad to have the opportunity to observe and draw different things: people, architecture, bodies of water, palaces and much more ... each country is memorable to me and holds a special place in my ♥️ heart. Oddly enough, I associate China with red and gold. I think this impression arose from the decoration of the imperial palaces... Myths, dragons 🐉, lanterns, and Confucianism merged for me into 🙏🇨🇳🙏 by @gorevaanastasia

🇨🇳CHINA🇨🇳 Sichuan Province - the “Panda Capital.”🐼🖤🐼Hello everyone, I’m happy 😃 to share my impressions of China with you. This is my second time in this country; exactly a year ago I was in Beijing, this time I was able to visit the southern province. Sichuan is not called the “Panda Capital” for nothing; in this amazing place, pandas 🐼 truly are everywhere. Any cafe, shop, or historic building is inevitably decorated with panda figurines. I ordered a delicious milk tea 🍵 with a panda 🐼 attached to the top of the glass, and I also bought a delicious ice cream; it’s not hard to guess that it was also shaped like a panda 🐼... The province itself is very picturesque, of course, I took lots of sketches. The cuisine of southern China was also a delight, although at times the food was too spicy for me, but the drinks 🍷 and green 💚 tea 🍵 were simply magnificent. Asian fish market 💙🐠🐟🐡🎣🍣. Paper, pencil. Personally, I love making quick sketches. Not only is it helpful for developing the artist’s eye 👀, but it can often serve as the basis for a future painting. Of course, when I work outside rather than in a studio, I have to do a lot quickly, as the subject is constantly moving. I have to grasp what I see as quickly as possible, and this approach helps the sketches come out alive. When we draw with pencil, we have many expressive tools, not only the tone but also the pressure of the pencil, that is, the thickness of the line. The Russian Revolution of 1917. 🚩The Fall of Democracy. From February to October. Oil on canvas, size: 95cm*110cm. The revolution that took place in Russia in February 1917 is a topic that has haunted me for many years… The Provisional Government came to power with a course toward liberal, democratic reforms. The monarchy was abolished, Nicholas II abdicated the throne… In February, society was in high spirits and anticipation of change. Kerensky became the head of the Provisional Government; he is depicted in a painting in a black frame on the wall. And then chaos began 🤯. The Provisional Government kept talking… Kerensky said wonderful things, but nothing was put into practice. The army, fighting on the fronts of World War I, was falling apart, and there was no bread in the country. I love and hate Kerensky at the same time; I would have loved for a bourgeois-democratic republic to emerge in Russia. But the Provisional Government’s power was weak; it only talked and did nothing! Ultimately, the Bolshevik coup occurred, and Lenin seized power. A terrible Red dictatorship, the execution of the aristocracy, clergy, and intelligentsia. The signing of the Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty, shameful for Russia. My painting depicts the heroes of those events. In the center is Comrade Kerensky, who promised democracy but proved weak and indecisive. Next to him is Trotsky and a small statue of Lenin. I painted this piece in May, it was quite cold, 🥶 so I put on a fur coat. Everything is as usual, there are a lot of flowers and bright dishes around me. Afternoon rest 🛌 Faun. Oil on canvas. Size: 90 cm * 105 cm. Hello everyone 👋 I am glad to present you my new painting. I want to say right away that this painting is not a figment of my imagination, but a production painted from life. My brother plays the role of Faun. Faun is one of the oldest national deities of Italy. In the image of Faun, the ancient Italians revered the good spirit of the mountains, meadows, fields, caves, herds. We thoroughly prepared this painting: we bought body paint to depict black spots, collected a lot of flowers and, of course, bought horns. Also, in the process of creating the painting, I was inspired by Leon Bakst’s sketches for the ballet “Afternoon of a Faun”, which premiered on May 29, 1912 in Paris on the stage of the Chatelet Theater as part of the Diaghilev Russian Ballets shows. The preparatory work on the painting was long: I attached flowers 🌺 to the Faun’s horns with wire, my brother took the bed outside, I covered it with different fabrics and leopard skin. When the image was fully formed, I began to work en plein air. I painted this picture on a tinted blue canvas with oil paints. taken in France by @gorevaanastasia

🇹🇭THAILAND🇹🇭. Asia is unique: incredible, bright colors, nature, amazing for Europeans architecture 🎨 When I visit ancient Buddhist temples, time seems to stop... It seems to me that this complex sky that stands years ago, people prayed, these statues stood just like I do now... what was happening around, and these blocks, giant Buddhas, just watched it. But it seemed to me (this is not accurate 🙂‍↕️) that the Thais are a little less religious, the wealth of the inhabitants of Bali... Although of course, constant offerings to the Gods are present 🙏🙏🙏🤍🤍🤍 🪷🪷🪷☸️☸️☸️☸️☸️My sketches depict ancient temples (some of them were founded in the 13th century, for example Sukhothai) Paper, pencil, size A4.
