The closing of a chapter while transitioning to the beginning of a new journey for our @jordynacherry - couldn’t be more proud of what you have accomplished over the 4 years in college - but even more proud at the amazing and caring individual that you have grown to be!! It’s wild to imagine you were there on my graduation day - so this is definitely a full circle 🔂. Its been a minute - so this is therapy for me Ya’ll - can’t seem to even consider posting on this platform without first getting this off my chest. It’s my Mom’s Mrs., Lois Jean Cherry, 80th birthday today.

My life hasn’t been the same for almost 5 years since my Mom’s health took an abrupt turn. This wasn’t what any of us expected - this wasn’t in the “plans” for how you would spend your time during retirement. You would travel with dad - you would spend your days with your friends laughing and going to the casino - with your grand kids spoiling them - with your kids correcting our parenting. But those moments become less frequent - BUT you stayed strong, you maintained that same great spirit and you always found a way to smile and show your love to your family and friends. I flew back east frequently to check on you, I woke up in the middle of the night to your phone call because you needed to talk. Things got bad in 2022, health failing - just couldn’t seem to get back to a good place - my heart broke when I came to visit on Feb 1st 2021 to celebrate her birthday and saw the state she was in - I cried - I screamed - I lost my faith in modern medicine - I blamed myself for moving to Cali - I blamed others for the burden of kidney failure that was so horribly placed on my Mom - she didn’t deserve this - this wasn’t the “plan”. My Mom passed shortly after her birthday - but she passed in one of her most favorite places on the earth - her home - she passed surrounded by love ones - she had one final laugh with her husband - kids and grandkids. We reminisced - we played music - we watched movies - we re-created Christmas in February since it was her favorite holiday. That Friday morning will forever be burned in my memory - the day my Mom left us in the physical form. I think about my mom everyday - mostly the words she would say and how she would say it. People say life goes on and time heals the heart - can’t seem to agree with this even after almost 365 days. Don’t think this new life I will ever get use to. But I guess this is just the way life goes - I don’t like it but I don’t know what else to do but feel this feelings. by @gourmetcherry

What started out as a disaster turned out to be a day in which I felt extremely levels of gratitude. Got a chance to hang with my dad, brother + his family, made it down to the beach, spent time with all my Cherry ladies, slept for like an hour in the sand and didn’t get sun burn then bumped into my sister and the rest of the fam on the board walk. Truly appreciate the little things in life given what is happening in certain parts of the 🌍 . Got to give it up to @tasneemcherry for navigating all the Ups/Downs (not just yesterday, but in life). Fatherhood changed my life for the better and allowed me to take on probably the biggest job in my lifetime. my girls give me unwavering love / support no matter how many stumbling blocks I hit along the way. This is just one of the special moments from the weekend. Can’t do a post without remembering my mom who is likely looking down from above and ☺️. #fathersday #blessing #happyfeelings by @gourmetcherry

Mrs Lois Jean Cherry, It’s tough being on the other side of the US and not being able to spend Mother’s Day with my Mom - even tougher is knowing she is continuing down the path to full recovery from several hospital visits practically since I moved to Cali. But I am grateful I can still pick up the phone and hear your voice, let you spoil the grandkids with countless amounts of gifts and most of all you can hear me tell you “I love you mom” . Maybe it’s just me being the youngest child and having a complex attachment/detachment for my Mom - but no matter how much I get on her nerves or she gets on mine, it’s 1000% love and I wouldn’t have it no other way. Love you ma-Dukes and I hope that I am living up to be the man you have raised me to be! #happymothersday taken in Berkeley, California by @gourmetcherry
