Sharing some fun personal news about what I’ve been up to the past few days!

Last Saturday, my mom and I hiked 14 miles through the Grand Canyon, starting on the South Kaibab Trail and finishing on the Bright Angel Trail.

It was a humbling experience, but also one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! The hike took us about 10 hours, and we had amazing weather for most of it — aside from a few bouts of pouring rain that really tested us.😅

Did you know the Guinness world record holder for the longest career as a female dance teacher lives in a small town of fewer than 600 people in Wisconsin?

Betty Hayes Baxter has been teaching for almost 8 decades. The Avoca woman was honored yesterday as the Richland Center City Auditorium stage was rededicated and named the Betty Hayes Baxter Legacy stage.

I tagged along with Jake to celebrate Betty & the amazing legacy she has created.

I grew up dancing so it was pretty cool to hear the stories everyone had to share about the impact Betty has made on their life. I got to share some dance stories with her❤️

At 96 years old, she’s still teaching, and has declared that her last recital will be next June.

I spent the morning near the vigil for the man who was shot and killed by Madison police at the corner of Williamson and Baldwin Street.

People gathered to honor his life, creating a memorial and writing messages in chalk on the pavement. There was a group of people that spent the night here and expressed
grief, anger, and confusion. We witnessed moments of silence, playing music, chanting and prayer.
