Puffin, or 'sea parrot', photographed in the Farne Islands off the coast of Northumberland, England. Puffin numbers in the UK have been dropping, due to a decline in sandeels, their main food. But there are reports that the sandeel fishing ban is working and numbers are on the rise again... From this week’s AP Awards in London, where The New Big 5 book was named Book Of The Year. On the run...⁠⁠A pair of elephants, seen from above. The elephants had been trying to raid the crops of local villagers. I photographed them from a helicopter in Mara Conservancy, Kenya. The helicopter and a team of people on the ground worked to clear the animals away to safety., using firecrackers and noise.
