GRAMMA EPSILON AT FRIEZE MASTERS 2026

Find us at booth S05, in the Spotlight section of Frieze Masters 2026, with “I Told You So”, a focused presentation of works by Anna Esposito, curated by @paolo_cortese_arte .

Through collages, assemblages and mixed-media works from the 1970s, the presentation explores Esposito’s incisive examination of consumerism, environmental degradation and structures of exploitation. Ahead of the widespread recognition of ecological and ecofeminist thought, Esposito used collage, décollage and found materials to challenge the logic of mass consumption and reveal its underlying systems of violence.

Works:
Venite a Vedere, 1971
Muro n.2, 1970
Resurrezione della carne, 1977

Visit us this weekend at Frieze Masters at booth S05, with the dedicated presentation “I Told You So” on Anna Esposito.

Since the late 1960s, the artist has employed the language of advertising, photography and mass media to expose their mechanisms of persuasion and reveal the ephemeral nature of the promises they convey. Through painting, collage, photography and assemblage, familiar images are displaced from their original function, questioning the cultural, economic and social models that produced them. Rather than predicting the present, Esposito’s work recognises with remarkable clarity the signs that were already there.

FILI FUORI TELAIO

“Fili fuori telaio Series (Threads Outside the Frame) is a tribute to the female figure of Sardinia, to the archaic and matriarchal feminine figure of my territory.

I created it using vintage materials from the 1930s and yarns from the 1920s, which belonged to women, weavers from the area of Ittiri, a town of great importance for the island’s weaving tradition, where the gesture of knotting and crossing threads becomes an expression of an emotional bond.

The blacks and whites also, in a way, represent these women’s emotional states and the grief they had to endure, especially during the post-war period of textile production.”

OPENING TOMORROW AT MLAC

Tomorrow, 8 October, Renata Prunas_Materia Risorta opens at MLAC-Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea in Rome, the first retrospective dedicated to Renata Prunas, curated by Alice Guzzetti.

We are delighted to be collaborating with the exhibition, supporting the presentation of Prunas’s practice in Italy and internationally. Her practice spans for more than fifty years and explores the relationship between matter, memory and identity through the transformation and re-signification of everyday materials and discarded objects.

From cork and tights to assemblage, Prunas developed a distinctive visual language in which materials acquire new meanings, moving between the personal, the poetic, and the everyday. The exhibition brings together a selection of her principal series, culminating in My MoMA (2024), a miniature museum inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s Boîte-en-valise and an ironic reflection on the artist’s relationship with the art system.

WHAT REMAINS, WHAT CHANGES

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of the first solo exhibition of Maria Jole Serreli “What Remains, What Changes” and celebrated with us the fifth anniversary of Gramma_Epsilon.

Curated by Panos Giannikopoulos and Paolo Cortese, the exhibition is bringing together around forty works from the artist’s principal serial including Ikigai, Animas, Il peso del sonno and Fili fuori telaio and also unveils Senescenza, a new body of work shown publicly for the first time. Working across textile, ceramic and marble, Serreli examines the interconnected themes of the body, memory, identity and transformation, combining materials and artistic gestures that are deeply connected to her personal history and cultural heritage.

Today marks the end of the first chapter of “Grammars of the Possible”, with the exhibition “Between Word and Sign”. We would like to thank everyone who visited us and contributed to the project. 💗

The exhibition brought together works by Mirella Bentivoglio, Amelia Etlinger, Elisabetta Gut, and Greta Schödl, tracing four distinct approaches to the relationship between writing, image and poetic form.

The second chapter of “Grammars of the Possible_Women, Language and Expanded Forms” will be presented at Artissima 2026 in Turin.

Our gallery will remain closed until September 30.

…UN NERO SCOPPIO, EGLI VAGAVA ALLA DERIVA…

In the aftermath of the 1990-1991 Gulf War, the Persian Gulf became the site of one of the most devastating environmental disasters associated with the conflict. Vast quantities of oil were released into the sea, contaminating marine ecosystems and threatening the lives of birds and other wildlife.

In “…Un nero scoppio, egli vagava alla deriva…(A Black Burst, He Wandered Adrift…)”, Elisabetta Gut brings together a page from Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Richard Bach’s novella, along with the image of a seagull and traces of blood and oil. Through this lyrical composition, the bird becomes a symbol of freedom threatened by environmental catastrophe and human violence. Language, image and gesture converge in a visual poem that reflects on the consequences of war, conflict and consumerism; and their impact on the natural world.

_Paolo Cortese

ARTISSIMA 2026

We are sharing the remaining four of the eight artists taking part in Artissima 2026.

At the centre of this year’s project “Grammars of the Possible: Women, Language and Expanded Forms” curated by Paolo Cortese, lies the idea of translation: not as a transfer between fixed systems, but as a generative act that produces difference, relation and possibility.

Artists:
Giustina Prestento
Renata Prunas
Alba Savoi
Franca Sonnino

Works:
Giustina Prestento, Untitled, 1980
Renata Prunas, Inseguendo un idea, 2018

SCRIPTURE SERIES

“Greta Schödl’s work becomes an operation of “writing,” of theorizing and transposing meaning. It moves across objects, the signifying supports of her work, (...) using a linear, syntagmatic mark related to the “name” of the object. Interwoven with these are transverse sequences, intended to be read vertically, consisting of small golden marks (generally dots filling the empty space within a letter, always the same letter within the same word or syntagma).
These “lift” and animate the ordered arrangement of the marks, alluding, as she herself writes, to “the relativity of the visual” and proposing “a different reading, also vertical, global” of the composition as a whole. The composition is thereby transformed into an “ideogram,” something absolutely “other” than the object from which the work originates.”
