Do you know why firefighters celebrate #NoBeardDay? Safety first! 🚒🪒
A tight Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) mask seal is the only thing standing between a firefighter’s lungs and toxic smoke or carcinogens. Even a couple of days of stubble breaks that airtight seal - which is why the beard has to go!
Mustaches? Approved.
Beards? Not on the fireground.

Yesterday marked the end of an incredible chapter for Firefighter/Paramedic Jared Sparks, as he completed his final shift as a volunteer firefighter with Grand Valley Fire Protection District.
For more than 20 years, Jared dedicated his time, skill, and commitment to serving the communities of both Grand Valley Fire Protection District and Gunnison Fire Protection District. Throughout those years, he balanced his volunteer service while also building a career as a full-time firefighter with the Glenwood Springs Fire Department, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to the fire service and the people of Western Colorado.
While Jared has decided to retire from the volunteer side of the fire service, he plans to continue serving with Glenwood Springs Fire Department for a few more years before fully retiring.
We extend our deepest gratitude for his more than two decades of service, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment. His contributions have made a lasting impact on our organization and the communities we proudly serve.
Please join us in thanking Jared for his years of dedication and wishing him all the best as he continues his career with Glenwood Springs.
Thank you, Jared. We are grateful for your service. We'll see you around! 🚒❤️

If you know what this is, your back probably hurts today… and it’s definitely time to check your smoke detector batteries. 🍿
Sure, it smells great when the room heats up, but the fire marshal gave it a solid 0/10.
It’s Fire Prevention Month! Skip the stovetop snacks on the ceiling: test your real smoke alarms, swap out those 9-volts, and make sure your alarms are less than 10 years old.

Whether you're traveling for work, vacation, or a weekend getaway, don't forget this important Fire Prevention Week tip:

🔋 Keep lithium-ion batteries and portable chargers where you can see them during your flight.

These everyday items power our lives, but when damaged or overheated, they can pose a fire risk. Keeping them in sight helps ensure a safer trip for everyone on board.

Would you trust a parachute held together with frayed cords? Probably not.

Don't trust a damaged charger, either. Frayed cables and low-quality chargers can create serious fire risks in your home.

This National Fire Prevention Week, make safety part of your daily routine. Small action. Big impact.
