New wine category: sidewalk wine. Frenchette is just the place for it and La Famille Puzelat “Rouillon” from Cheverney is just the wine.

It’s made from 25-year-old Gamay and Pinot Noir from Clos du Tue-Boeuf, a place in the Loire where natural wines were pioneered. Lots of silky brown dirt underneath beautiful purple plums. And what a match with the jambon maison and white cheddar. taken in Frenchette by @grapefriend

If yacht rock exists, yacht rosé should too. And salty Mediterranean rosés are perfect. This Brise Marine has light strawberry and an air kiss of salinity. Look for IGP Méditerranée on the label, since it’s broader than just Provence regions and gives winemakers more freedom to choose different grapes. Superba IS superba! With a natural, small-producer list, this is skin-contact Pinot Gris with some Riesling and Muscat Canelli. Dry and zippy and peachy, with a side of Fleetwood Mac in the back. taken in Superba Food + Bread Venice by @grapefriend

Probably my fave rosé right now. Grenache, Syrah, and a splash of Viognier give this southern French rosé loads of juicy peach, ripe strawberry, and sunshine energy. More great rosés in bio link! by @grapefriend

RIP Sam Neill. He was so fun when I met him in New Zealand, tasting through his @twopaddocks wines and feeding the farm chicken Charlie. Here’s what I wrote about the wines then:

In Central Otago, one of the best tastings to get a full range of the region was at Two Paddocks, owned by actor Sam Neill. Their Fusilier is from Bannockburn, where cooling breezes produce more cherry instead of black cherry notes. It makes very pretty wines, with perfect tannin/whole cluster/fruit mix. Gibbston, the first area Two Paddocks planted in, has lots of black cherry with a warm finish and is prone to a gamey funk when it gets older. Earnscleaugh has schist and no topsoil, and their Last Chance has some floral notes mixed in with button mushroom and thyme (these wines would be amazing with a lamb stew). taken in Central Otago, New Zealand by @grapefriend
