The Downward Spiral - Nine Inch Nails
2017 Definitive Edition 2xLP 180g
Released 29 years ago, this masterpiece (go read some reviews if you think I'm exaggerating) is one of the most important albums of my life. So much has been written about this album so won't bore you praising it. Instead I'll tell you how it affected me and became a crutch (more like a wheelchair) when I was at my lowest.
In 1995 my grandad and my father passed away, my mum got a job opportunity in England so we moved there from Spain. I didn't speak English and didn't know anyone there so this album became this teenager's best friend. It was not an easy listening experience but it clicked with me, I really made an effort to learn all the lyrics and then it really hit me! This album taught me to really appreciate music, to really listen, taught me about sound design, about how every little glitch, scratch, droning sound and distortion is purposely used and meticulously thought of, taught me to appreciate production, taught me to love "outsider" music and opened my mind to countless artists and genres but most of all it taught me to be strong, to believe in myself and not wollow in self pity. No matter how bad or hard you think your life is there's always somebody else worse off than you and you should be grateful and fight hard to better yourself and your situation.

Oh and by the way, Hurt is NOT a Jonny Cash song although he did a great job with the cover, but it's definitely a Nine Inch Nails song. There's a really good episode on Netflix's Song Exploder where they dissect and discuss the song, definitely worth a watch 😉 by @graphiclust13

The Book of Bad Decisions by Clutch.
Gatefold 2xLP standard black vinyl.
With this post I wanted to highlight the back cover art as I find it more interesting than the front cover so the first slide is the back cover, second slide is the original art for the back cover (so you can have a better look) and the third slide is the front cover... Confused? I don't blame you.
The 12th studio album by Clutch is another groovy as hell banger released through the band's own label, Weathermaker Music.
I improvised as well as I could (considering that I'm on holiday) I knew there'd be logs, axes, dry leaves etc. around here but I wasn't going to buy a crab and find a beehive so everything matches perfectly. The big ass feather is a nod to the eagle on the front cover.
I dedicate this to @spins.and.spells as she very recently also made a post featuring apples, pinecones, logs and pomegranates. by @graphiclust13

Deftones - Self Titled 20th Anniversary limited edition pressed on translucent Ruby red vinyl.
Another great effort from Deftones following the massive success of White Pony, I remember this record was not that well received when it came out but everyone seems to love it now, which is great... Sometimes you need time and perspective to appreciate something.

Here's my "Top Nine"
I definitely don't do all this shit for likes otherwise I would have stopped a long time ago... But I do honestly appreciate everyone that stops by my account and leaves a comment liking the photo or even saying something good about the record itself.
Engagement has gone down massively and Instagram nowadays shows your posts to about five random people so it's nice that some of you still like what I post. Thanks and happy new fear (given the current global events seems more fitting than happy new year. by @graphiclust13

Deafhaven - Sunbather 10th Anniversary Remix/Remaster

I was introduced to Deafhaven in 2015 by a friend and was both shocked and pleased by the juxtaposition of styles: Shoegaze type rock and black metal (now they aptly call it Blackgaze) I was hooked instantly, loving the pummeling yet beautiful music they made.

I had a few ideas/concepts for displaying this album... Was thinking about taking it to the beach but quickly erased that though, was thinking about posing sunbathing while holding the records but quickly erased that though as well so you don't have to see my pale body and my stupid mug, you're welcome!
In the end I decided to simplify and go with the "Sunbather/Dream House" route... We usually holiday here (you may recognise the location from some of my other photos) and while it may not be exactly my "dream house", it certainly ticks a lot of boxes: Cute little house with a bunch of trees and plants on the property, swimming pool, it's in the woods, there are neighbours but far enough, close enough to a main town. Anyway, go listen to Deafhaven. by @graphiclust13

Chon - Homey
This record has been the soundtrack to my summer holiday. Chon's "Homey" is rich with textures, complex yet easy going and feels like a cool breeze on a hot summer day.
I've been a fan of their music for a few years and love their style... I guess I'd describe it as jazzy, instrumental progressive rock, songs that are complex without being pretentious because they're always fun, chilled and never outstay their welcome.
Please refrain from the usual lecturing on how to handle vinyl... The record's not touching the palm tree, it hasn't been out in the sun for too long, the shell and paper sleeves are not placed directly on the vinyl, etc, etc... You may mean well but I'm not fucking dumb. Thanks by @graphiclust13

Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge 2025 Rich Costey Mix 2xLP Red Marble
I'm not a variant collector but couldn't help get this (I already had the picture disc but the sound quality wasn't great) I really like the minimalist cover art, the packaging is pretty good and the deep red marble pressing came out really well.
My Chemical Romance's debut had already made a considerable dent but it was this, their sophomore album that blew the doors right open and made them "Emo Royalty" before conquering the world with their third album, The Black Parade.
I always thought of MCR as much more than "just an emo band", the fact that this album is a concept album backs up that idea. They mix punk, rock, pop and even goth to perfection on this record, infuse it with drama and great songwriting, visual and artistic scope (mainly thanks to Gerard Way) to make them stand out from the rest.
Some of the songs have become emo/pop punk anthems ("Helena, "I'm Not Okay") and there's even a huge ballad ("The Ghost Of You) but for me it's the deep cuts that really make me love this album because they're sprinkled with enough flair and surprises that are incredibly well mixed and produced. A huge album from a band that was ready to become global superstars. by @graphiclust13

I'm not completely okay with this session but since I've discovered the new (at least to me) "collage" option for stories, I thought I'd give it a try... And it's not too bad by @graphiclust13

20 years of With Teeth, the "comeback" album from @nineinchnails
NIN are one of my all time favourite artists so I remember vividly the hype, anticipation and excitement before the album's release and fans and critics were hungry for new Nine Inch Nails music. They seemed to take a more "straightforward rock approach" but NIN don't really do anything in a straightforward fashion so we get some cool, interesting and varied sounds that come together in a very cohesive way... Lead single and anti Bush anthem "The Hand That Feeds" is dancefloor ready, "Only" is funky and full of swagger (the music video is directed by David Fincher), "You Know What You Are" is a more aggressive number, "Sunspots" is an ironically named dark gem, the tile track has a rumbling distorted to fuck baseline that'll shake you to the core, "Beside You In Time" is a postrock-esque banger that works incredibly well live (IYKYK) and sheds a bit of light on this deceivingly dark record, slower tracks can be found in the repetitive and aptly named "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" and in the beautifully haunting "Right Where It Belongs"... So there's plenty to unpack and enjoy. Three drummers took part in the album process, Jerome Dillon (former NIN drummer) , Dave Grohl (former nice guy) and the mighty @joshfreese (former The Vandals, A Perfect Circle and pretty much any other bands or artists that you can think of... Honestly, he's played for EVERYONE) who took care of touring duties. And speaking of which they were so fucking good live, saw them in London and my neck still hurts from that show. Longtime collaborator @rob_sheridan took care of the artistic direction with this one and nailed it as always 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Is With Teeth my favourite NIN album?... No, but is it a fucking solid, underrated gem in their catalogue?... Fuck yes! To me this is not a comeback album because for me, Nine Inch Nails never went away. by @graphiclust13

These are the photos that started this whole taking "decent" photos of my vinyl collection, which started/was inspired by seeing @alice__ffs beautiful posts and a clumsy happy little accident: I dropped some pills while listening to this record and thought, that could look pretty good... What if from now on I post photos that have something to do with the cover art, lyrics or just the feel of the record?
This has been a great way to be creative and it's pretty satisfying when you think you've "nailed it" or when you come up with something that you think is a good concept for a photo.
Now let's talk about the music. Amen's self-titled album was released first in 1999 and then in 2001 and it's a great mash up of punk rock and metal but has other flavours thrown in for good measure... In my opinion Amen are a really underrated band. They became famous/infamous for their explosive live shows and you can definitely tell just by listening to their music which oozes swagger, anger and passion. Band leader and multi instrumentalist Casey Chaos can be also heard singing in BYOB by System Of A Down. I found out he died recently... Now, I'm not trying to get likes at the expense of a dead man so I'm not going to tell you that I'm devastated, I didn't know the guy. All I'm saying is go listen to Amen because they fucking rock.

Could not find any music from this album on Instagram, this song is the lead single from their 2000 album We Have Come For Your Daughters by @graphiclust13
