~ Gravity Pleasure and @forms.of.minutiae are thrilled to announce their festival, Liquiforms, at @90mil___ on September 12th 💧

As a hydrofeminist festival, Liquiforms explores the possibilia of water as a critical site for social and planetary transformation.

The festival will run for 12 hours and will include concerts, DJ sets, panels, an installation, a workshop, a cinema, and a pop-up shop curated by @zabriskiebuchladen

Liquiforms is organized in collaboration with Zabriskie Buchladen + @___mappa and generously funded by @musicboardberlin 💙

I’m so elated to announce my EP, Medicinal Properties is up for pre-order today on @gravitypleasure . Actualizing this record with @slowfoam and @_slyn___ has been such a dream and I’m beyond grateful for their curation, vision and support.
Medicinal Properties is an ecosystem of sensuality, yearning and bonding through sonic ritual and elemental fluidity. This EP is a capsule of harmonic healing, sapphic symbiosis and nature as nourishment. It is growth, it is fruition, it is unity.
The first single Orr Kore is out today. This mineral rich morpher coils geothermic basslines and fortified textures, paving way for what’s to come. Limited pressing of 200 is available on Bandcamp.

The program is filled to the brim with watery propositions for recalibrating our water bodies and moving more fluidly through the world. There will be a cinema, pop-up shop, installations, live performances, DJ sets, a workshop, a panel, and food. We hope to see you there 💧

@pablodiserens and I will present our performance “the pond” ~ an extension of a track by the same name on @___mappa ‘s Synthetic Water Music. Layering aqueous, icy, and amphibian field recordings with blown glass bottles, and spoken word, we will conjure a dreamy, bizarre, biomimetic exploration of a speculative pond moving within and beyond time.

Gravity Pleasure co-founder, SLYN, is a sound artist and live performer whose work sits at the intersection of experimental music, sound art, and ecology. Drawing on her background in marine biology, her practice aims to explore listening as both a scientific and emotional act. (@_slyn___ )

For Liquiforms, slyn will DJ mappa’s compilation album “Synthetic Water Music” in celebration of its release. On the compilation, 57 aquanauts explore water dispersed across four chapters. “You live your life as a droppity drop: vapour in the heavens, condensing in clouds, falling into a swamp, trickling into the deepest sea.”

“Synthetic Water Music” coincides with mappa’s 10-year anniversary. For the past decade, the record label has served as a platform for adventurous music and sound by artists from around the world, with a focus on the Eastern European scene. (@___mappa )

LISA MONDLANE’s work spans performance, music, film and storytelling. Interested in the personal and collective experience and unconscious, she explores the fragmentation and reassembly of narrative. Using ambiguity to construct improvised scenes and emotional landscapes.

For Liquiforms she will present a film with the working title “‘Calm waters run deep and dirty’ Songs from the mist”. The work in progress takes its shape for the screen as a folkloristic tale about a figure navigating a changing landscape or journey through an array of fever dreams. Scenic echoes intimately evolve and burst into strange atmospheres and rhythms.

PAYAL (BAD BUTTER) is an Indian chef specialising in Indian-inspired fusion cuisine. Coming from a tribal background, her cooking is rooted in techniques and recipes passed down through the women in her family. For her, food is more than nourishment, it is a way of preserving culture, while also questioning how food and domestic labour have historically been used to control women in India. Through her work, she hopes to reclaim that narrative and reimagine Indian food on her own terms. (@bad_butter_berlin )

• WER DA is the artistic collaboration between Berlin artists Werner Kernebeck and David Braithwaite. The duo works with performative installation, found-object sculpture, and creaturing as a modality. Staying true to the idea of using elements of the environment around them, Wer Da work with found, man-made materials playfully and instinctively. Since 2014 they’ve facilitated the non-commercial project space NEON KUNST in Neukölln.

For Liquiforms, Wer Da will create a site-specific installation at 90mil to activate the space using found materials, water, and light. Their kinetic sculptures cast aqueous reflections, illuminating the surrounding architecture in rippling delight.

Compelled by collectivity, spirituality, and care, Alif Hilal (formerly known as Lyra Pramuk) conjures a rare form of devotional music. The Berlin-based, American multidisciplinary artist—vocalist, composer, producer, DJ, performance artist, and astrologer—merges the limitless potential of the human voice with the magic of technology. Classically trained and raised in Berlin’s club scene, Alif’s genre-fluid sound, rooted in improvisation, experimental techniques and left-field electronics, has earned acclaim from diverse outlets including Pitchfork, Mixmag, and Vogue.

For Liquiforms, Alif will play a hybrid deep listening DJ set diving into a subaquatic journey through intimate and mystical unbecomings, electronic, folkloric, and vocal, re-linking and remembering the microcosmic waters of the human body as ponds of memory and geolocation. (@alif_hilal_ )

• DIANE BARBÉ works at the intersection of experimental music and anthropology, delving into multiple practices of sound from instrument building, electroacoustic composition, field recording, teaching and writing. Her ongoing project The Alien Kin develops collective music workshops with handmade wind and percussion instruments, exploring imitation and sonic mimicry as possibilities for accessing more-than-human modes of representation. For Liquiforms, Diane will liquify their ongoing ‘The Alien Kin’ project into ‘The Aquatic Kin’ — a collective performance that speaks to the amphibian and the mud dwellers, as well as to the giants of steel that crisscross the seas. Using handmade instruments built from scratch, ceramics, plumbing pipes, latex and river cane, the composer Diane Barbe invites friends to play and improvise on fictional soundscapes generated with analog synthesizers. A croaking voice emerges near the pond; another responds, and another, and another five. They multiply and interlace, in a strange conference of creatures.

“What is the value of my waste water?” - After the fluids you ingest have coursed through your body, you excrete the same substance loaded with parts of you; hormones, nutrients, minerals and more. Your stream is a part of Hypersea, the global sum of all water. Your own liquid gold joins a legacy far more rich than you might expect; human history has evolved culturally, economically, and medically drenched in pee.
