POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In 1991, Rev Graylan Ellis-Hagler challenged the white establishment by running for Mayor of Boston with a campaign calling for police accountability. His campaign was powered by the reputation he built through his activism challenging the gang tactics of Boston police following the Charles Stuart case, and in the storefront Church of the United Community he founded with his first wife, Rev. Elizabeth Ellis, in Roxbury which embraced a community of recovering addicts. He won 13.5% of the vote in the Democratic primary. by @graylanhagler
