Acupuncture may seem mysterious, but its effects are rooted in science 🧬✨

When a needle is inserted into specific points on your body, it does much more than just sit there. These points are areas rich in nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. The needle triggers your body’s natural repair system by stimulating sensory nerves, which send signals to your brain and spinal cord.

This creates a powerful ripple effect in your nervous system. Acupuncture calms overactive nerves, relieves muscle tension, and even helps regulate your body’s stress response.

But it doesn’t stop there—acupuncture also improves circulation, helping deliver oxygen and nutrients to the areas that need healing.

On a deeper level, it influences your body’s major systems:
☁️ Nervous System: Relieves pain and tension.
☁️ Cardiovascular System: Enhances blood flow and nutrient delivery.
☁️ Endocrine System: Balances hormones and promotes homeostasis.
☁️ Immune System: Boosts your body’s defenses.

Whether you’re dealing with pain, stress, sleep issues, or hormonal imbalances, acupuncture taps into your body’s ability to heal itself naturally. It’s a safe, effective, and time-tested way to feel your best.

Your health is worth it! 🤍

In Traditional Eastern Medicine, when we create an acupuncture treatment plan, we often start with weekly or biweekly sessions.

You might wonder: why so often?

The answer lies in how acupuncture works with your body over time to make lasting changes.

Acupuncture isn’t a quick fix like popping a pill to mask symptoms. It’s an all-natural, non-invasive approach that addresses the root causes of your health concerns.

Our goal isn’t just to relieve discomfort in the moment, but to help your body heal from within and maintain long-term wellness.

In the beginning, frequent sessions help establish a strong foundation. Each treatment builds on the last, reinforcing the signals we send to your nervous system, encouraging it to restore harmony and function. This process allows the body to integrate the changes and start making new patterns of health.

As we see progress, we start spacing out the treatments to every 4-6 weeks. This helps to maintain the improvements, prevent future issues, and keep your body in a state of balance.

Just like building muscle or creating a healthy habit, healing with acupuncture takes time and consistency. The body needs time to respond, adjust, and maintain those positive changes.

It’s a journey, but the results are worth it—a lasting, natural shift toward better health without relying on medications.

If you’re ready to commit to long-term wellness, DM me to start your acupuncture journey today! ☁️✨ by @grecomedicine

A slower pace in clinic this summer has allowed space for true enjoyment & reinvention. More time outdoors, doing new fun things with new people and connecting to parts of myself that had been on the sidelines for a long time.

I am so grateful for the last few months having been filled with presence, joy & a healthy amount of comfort zone expansion 🌻

Our first year of enjoying a cute patio has been lovely, lots of good summer evenings were enjoyed outdoors thanks to my man & his dad building it ♥️
it’s the little things that change everything

Self-care treatments continued throughout the season because being an acupuncturist treating up to 10 patients a day can be hard on the body! monthly acupuncture, massage therapy, osteopathy & chiropractic for optimal maintenance 👌🏼

Pickleball became the main family activity… & I love it! Such a fun way to play with friends, family, complete strangers all while burning a serious amount of calories 🏓

I became a godmother to this angel girl & will have to hold back from spoiling her rotten 🥹🫶🏼

Exploring local hiking spots in Petawawa 🏞️

Quality time with people who are always down for philosophical discussions & wild life anecdotes ♥️

More pickleball! Working on skills & drills to keep up with the senior club members who kick our butts every week 🫢

Somehow I’ve been blessed with the best in-laws ever. I love visiting them in Orangeville & when they stay in Petawawa for the weekend. They bring the party, good food and play everywhere they go 🫶🏼

My best friend’s birthday AND Petawawa poutine fest on the same weekend?? Perfect combo to end the summer 🎂🍟🎉 by @grecomedicine

I saw a post recently that said, “I quit therapy after going to acupuncture.”

It got me thinking.

First, let me be clear: acupuncture is not a replacement for psychotherapy.

Therapy has an important place in holistic health. There are things that need to be talked through, processed and worked through with a trained psychotherapist that acupuncture cannot replace.

But I also think we sometimes forget that mental and emotional health isn’t only happening in your mind. Your body is part of the conversation too.

You can understand exactly why you’re anxious, stressed, overwhelmed or feeling stuck in survival mode, and still have a body that is exhausted, tense, restless and disconnected.

In Chinese medicine, we don’t draw such a hard line between the physical, emotional and mental.

When I ask you about your stress, your emotions, your relationships, your energy or what has been weighing on you, I’m not trying to be your therapist.

I’m trying to understand the whole picture, knowing that the body needs to be part of the healing conversation too.

That’s why I don’t see acupuncture and psychotherapy as competing approaches, in fact they can work beautifully together.

One can help you understand and process what you’re experiencing, while the other can help you work with how that experience is showing up in your body.

You don’t have to choose between your mind and your body.

They’re not separate 🤍 by @grecomedicine

Our nervous system was designed to protect us. But when we get stuck in survival mode, the body can no longer focus on repairing and restoring itself.

One of the remarkable things about acupuncture is its ability to help the body transition out of a prolonged state of protection and into one of restoration.

It creates the conditions where the body has the opportunity to do what it was designed to do: heal.

Because every season of life places different demands on our nervous system.

And every nervous system deserves the opportunity to experience safety, regulation, and rest ☁️✨ by @grecomedicine

Chinese medicine has taught me that no matter how well we care for ourselves, the body can’t fully restore itself when we’re living in a state of urgency and constant busyness.

As a health practitioner, and as someone who works within a medicine that places balance at the very core of health for body and mind, I feel a real responsibility to live that teaching in my own life. I believe this is part of the integrity that comes with supporting others through their healing.

Going into my 5th summer practicing acupuncture full time, I’m once again realizing how fast these short, beautiful months pass. This year I’m really trying to slow down a little inside of them by soaking up the outdoors and allowing myself more breathing room in day-to-day life.

To support that goal, I’ll be away for a few camping weeks throughout the summer, and some clinic days from July to October will be slightly shortened so I can make more space for balance in my schedule.

I feel profoundly grateful to do work that I genuinely love and can see myself doing for many years to come. What feels important to me is building a pace I can live with long-term; one that lets me keep showing up well for this work, while also staying connected to my own life outside the clinic.

With my schedule shifting into summer mode, I’ll continue slowly onboarding the patients already on the waitlist. I’ve also decided to close the waitlist for now so I can continue making space for the patients already in my care, and avoid creating wait times longer than 12 months for new patients.

Thank you so much, as always, for your understanding, support & trust 🤍

Sunbathing days are here! 🌤️

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, sunlight is considered one of the purest forms of Yang energy—the kind of energy that warms + activates.

When you step into the sun, you’re not just getting fresh air or vitamin D; you’re helping your body turn the lights back on. That warmth supports circulation, digestion & mental clarity, which is why even a brief moment in the sun can leave you feeling more energized, relaxed & clear-headed.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, a lot of what people experience today—fatigue, low mood, sluggish digestion, feeling cold or unmotivated—can be linked to not enough Yang or not enough movement in the body.

Modern life tends to keep us indoors, under artificial light, and mentally overstimulated but physically under-activated. Sunlight naturally corrects that by bringing warmth and motion back into the system, helping energy and Blood flow more freely.

✨TCM tip: the area of your lower back is known as the “Gate of Life” (Ming Men), where your core Yang energy is said to reside. Letting the sun warm this area is traditionally thought to nourish your deepest reserves of energy, like recharging your internal battery in the most natural way.

You can spend your whole life chasing symptoms.

The headaches, bloating, fatigue, the pain that keeps changing shape.

Or… you can pause and ask: What is all of this pointing to?

In Chinese Medicine, we treat the root, not just the branches.

We listen for the deeper imbalance beneath every flare-up.

Maybe it’s unprocessed grief weakening the Lungs and immunity.

Or years of worrying draining the Spleen and digestion.

Or Liver energy that’s been stuck for so long it’s started to rise as inflammation, tension, & hormonal imbalance.

The branch is what you feel, but the root is always what we treat 🌳🫚✨

Spring is often when “detox” starts trending.

And yes, there is definitely some value to that.

This is the season where it’s beneficial to eat lighter & incorporate more greens to align with the fresh energy of spring.

When done appropriately, this supports the liver’s role in detoxification + hormone metabolism, which ultimately shapes how we feel and function day to day.

But going too far into intense detoxes or overloading the system with raw foods can actually weaken digestion and create, or worsen, existing imbalances.

Seasonal nutrition is something we refine over time by observing how our digestion, our energy, our mood & our cycles respond.

There is no single formula that works for everyone.

The goal is to develop the awareness to adjust in a way that supports your system.

Spring is a powerful transition, and how you support yourself now can shape how you feel for months to come.

It doesn’t have to be extreme to be effective!

Happy Spring 🌸

As we step into 2026, my wish is simple:
that you feel supported in your body,
respected in your pace,
and encouraged to care for yourself in ways that feel sustainable.

May health feel less like a task, and more like something you grow into 🫶🏼

Water-based cooking is honestly one of the easiest ways to take care of your body in winter.

In TCM, warm, brothy meals hydrate you from the inside, support your digestion + immunity, and help your body actually absorb the nourishment you’re giving it.

In this video, I made a bowl of brothy rice with white fish, bok choy, cilantro, and black sesame seeds, but this is just one example of what water-based cooking can look like.

The magic is in the FORMULA:

✨ A warm broth
✨ A nourishing grain (rice, quinoa, millet)
✨ A clean protein (fish, meat or egg)
✨ A dark leafy green
✨ A herb (cilantro, green onion, ginger)
✨ And black sesame seeds

Here’s why this combo works so well:

✨ Brothy grains
Rice or quinoa cooked in broth makes your meal hydrating, comforting, and easier to digest. It warms the stomach, steadies energy, and feels like giving your system a break without giving up nourishment.

✨ Fish or meat
A clean, simple protein keeps your body grounded and satisfied. In TCM-inspired cooking, warm, gentle proteins support circulation and overall vitality without weighing you down.

✨ Dark leafy greens
Bok choy, kale, spinach, whatever you have. These greens help your body stay “unclogged.” They support smoother digestion, help counter heaviness, and keep everything moving.

✨ Cilantro or green onion
These are your little medicinal boosts. Cilantro helps your body release what it doesn’t need. Green onions warm things up, support immunity, and help the body digest meals more comfortably.

✨ Black sesame seeds
They’re amazing for skin, hair, and overall moisture in the body.

All cooked in one pot. Your nervous system loves predictable + simple routines and water-based cooking gives you exactly that.

Save this for the next time you want a cozy TCM-style bowl that supports you from the inside out 🥣✨ by @grecomedicine
