A Dream Day In The Life Of A Sustainable Finance Corporate Baddie.

Dream day because the opportunity to fly in for company meeting has only presented itself once in 8 months.

Flying out at 7am meant 3 hours of sleep because I hadn’t started packing till 11pm the night before. Yes a 12 hour work trip involved 5 hours of prep including packing, washing and drying my hair, skincare and eating everything in the fridge!

Moving yourself even a little more regularly can go a very long way in keeping you PHAT 😉. Healthy as well.

Apart from the very many well known benefits of dance, did you know that dance has been proven to be more effective than the other forms of exercise in reducing memory loss? A human development study at the Colorado State University found that participants who were assigned dance as their form of regular exercise had less deterioration in their brains as compared to other exercise groups as there is a lot more learning and memory utilization involved.

So what are you waiting for? Stop that deteriorating brain matter now!

PHAT = Pretty, Hot and Tempting.

Who knew how divine this could taste?

We started January with a mason jar full of this beauty every morning and we honestly can't fathom the idea of starting our day any other way!

ABC juice for the win.
1 Apple
1/4 Beetroot
2 medium sized Carrots

This recipe was inspired by @thattinychef with our own addition of apple to satiate the taste buds a little. :p

The average menstruating woman uses between 5000-15000 pads and tampons in her lifetime. Take a moment to think about exactly how much plastic is being generated globally every single month. Because menstrual waste is classified as medical waste it hasn't even been tracked as seriously as it needs to. In terms of research on exactly how serious the menstrual waste problem is, we as a society have only been able to touch the tip of the iceberg.

There are a number of more sustainable solutions that are now begining to reach the market. This unique idea by @saukhyam_pads really caught our eye because of how economical and sustainable it is! It not only uses a biodegradable material for the pad design, but goes as far as using banana fibers that have been discarded.

Thank you @qui_vivra.verra for the amazing designs and edits. What would we do with out you?

Imran Ahmed from The New York Times observes that today “A garment is cheaper than a sandwich.” Not you, nor me, but someone is definitely paying the price for that $1 sale!

Apart from the fact that we under value and so easily discard items of clothing purchased at such rates, someone has to share a one bedroom shack with 8 others, fight off dysentery and cholera and much more to pay the price we didn’t have to.

Thank you @supershivika for putting all this material together.

Navishka is a feminist and then a Civil Engineer from the DTU’20 Batch. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer but spent most of her College years running from one Dram Soc practice to another and unsuccessfully trying to get her friends to cut out fried food and sugar from their diet. Navishka was always extremely passionate about sustainability, developing water treatment systems and eco-friendly menstrual products. As someone with early body image issues she would really like to be the representation she wished she had when she was younger.

Mansi is an Environmental Engineer from the DTU’20 batch. She almost always expresses herself through bad jokes or dance. So it's no surprise that the latter is how she prefers to keep herself healthy. Mansi chose Environmental Engineering because it seemed like a safe choice but over the years her passion for developing an economy that is sustainable led her to explore various other aspects of the environment.
