NOTTINGHAM DEBUT NEXT MONTH

This is the first of hopefully many Greenhouse Jams being held in the vibrant and creative city of Nottingham at the Carousel. Come along and let's make this first one super special.

For the foreseeable, we're changing up the Greenhouse Jam schedule so that it is alternating monthly between Derby (at Dubrek Studios, on the First Wednesday) and Nottingham (carousel, on the First Friday). We're skipping January as per usual this year so the next few jams will be:

November - Carousel
December - Dubrek
January - SKIPPED
February - Carousel
March - Dubrek
ETC

the Weirder the Instrument the better in our books, so please bring whatever you like and we shall try and accommodate as best we can. The sound team at the Carousel is stellar. If you have any worries feel free to DM and we can let you in early to soundcheck and/or set up.

MCs and Vocalists are very welcome at this jam!!!!

See you on the 6th November for the first Nottingham edition of the Greenhouse Jam. <3

FLORAL PATTERN @ INVENTION FESTIVAL 2026
ELECTRIC DAISY 1PM

FLORAL PATTERN is a crying-in-the-club Jazz project based in the East Midlands, led by saxophonist and composer Myles Noble. Blending the raw energy of UK soundsystem culture with the innovation of the contemporary jazz scene, the band crafts euphoric, improvisation-heavy performances that are both psychedelic and rhythmically intense. Expect hard-hitting horn lines, driving Afrobeat and Jungle-inspired drums, and bold experiments in live electronic processing.

They’ve shared stages with acts like the Neue Grafik Ensemble and Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, and have built a reputation for high-energy sets across Derby, Nottingham, and Sheffield. Recently they’ve played at venues such as Peggy’s Skylight, and have just returned from playing a set at We Out Here.

“Before long, people were moving, dancing and completely immersed in the music. The band’s adventurous spirit was matched by exceptional musicianship, particularly from the saxophone player whose performance added huge energy throughout the set.” - TRENDNG

“It’s hard to keep still to that one, the bass and percussion alone produce enough energy to power the grid.” - Soweto Kinch, BBC Radio 3.”

BLOOM SESSIONS: The Shiva Ensemble
Friday 24th April 2026

In collaboration with @derbyquad we're bringing new sounds of all kinds to Derby's city centre, and the second Bloom Session will bring an incredible Jazz quartet from Nottingham led by our close friend Arjun.

The Shiva Ensemble is led by saxophonist Arjun Chandrasekar, an emerging artist in the Nottingham music scene and UoN student. Drawing inspiration from styles such as carnatic, jazz fusion, and hip-hop, the band pays tribute to the diversity of musical idioms defined by improvisation and spontaneity.

Lucas Walters and Sam Vickers support Arjun on piano and drums respectively. Having made his professional debut at Ronnie Scott’s in 2025 – among a countless array of other accomplishments – Lucas Walters is one of the most promising and well-established talents of the UK jazz scene. Sam Vickers, a prolific and prominent Nottingham-based jazz artist provides meticulous percussion.

Lineup
Arjun Chandrasekar – sax
Lucas Walters – keys
Sam Vickers – drums
Rhys Apfelbaum – bass, synths

BLOOM SESSIONS: Mitch Probert Watt

Friday 27th March 2026

In collaboration with @derbyquad we're bringing new sounds of all kinds to Derby's city centre, and what better way to kick off these monthly Bloom Sessions than with Mitch Probert Watt playing a double bill.

MITCH PROBERT WATT:
Transporting you directly into his living room, and his brain, Mitch Probert Watt's live set of completely improvised music touches on every genre, and fusion thereof imaginable. A dazzling display of raw unfiltered talent in Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Keys, Bass, Guitar, Vocals and Drum Machines, paired with the technical wizardry to be able to freely create with all of these solo makes him one of the most dynamic musicians in the East Midlands, and a creative spirit to be envied. One minute you'll be floating in the clouds on thick trumpet harmonies, and the next you'll be in a sweaty Berlin club listening to driving techno rhythms.

Mitch has also played as part of The Barnacles, FLORAL PATTERN, and the Dustbowl Orphans, and is a regular collaborator with Nonna Fab.

Doors 7:30pm, Performances 8pm+
£5 contribution taken on the break via card or cash. No advance sales.

8pm–10pm
Free entry

Join us on Friday 13 March for a special evening of live music as part of the launch of Becky Beasley: A Gentle Man (Part II) (1975-2029) Touring Exhibition.

Taking place is QUAD’s Café Bar, this free-entry event presents two distinctive Midlands-based artists for an intimate evening set, responding to the atmosphere of the exhibition.

Anya Deja

A BBC Introducing-recognised vocalist, pianist and singer-songwriter, Anya Deja crafts vivid, emotionally rich stories through a folky-soul sound. Her lyrical exploration, haunting vocals and instinctive improvisation create a dreamy, vulnerable atmosphere — pulling listeners into a sonic world that feels both familiar and uncannily new.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Nina Simone, Björk, Alfa Mist, Portishead and Kate Bush, Anya’s work blends soul, experimentation and storytelling. Her singles Purgatory, Underwater and Men Who Deceive have received airplay on BBC Introducing Midlands, and she is currently developing a new body of work to be released throughout 2026.

Alongside her solo practice, Anya has supported artists including Floral Pattern and Stack Duncan, performing at venues across the Midlands such as The Bodega, The Hairy Dog and The Night Owl.

Simran

Simran is an R&B artist from Nottingham who fell in love with music through singing and immersing herself in the soulful greats. Currently on a journey to explore and refine her sound, she pushes boundaries through deeply personal songwriting.

Her music creates an emotional wormhole — a space where listeners can find comfort, connection and solace.
