🌸🌸🌸What a blast!!!🌸🌸🌸
Thank you to over 400 of you?!?!? That came to my booth at the Big Picnic this past weekend. My heart is so full seeing all the kiddos and adults alike enjoying my activity, I hope you put your buttons somewhere you can enjoy them.
Thank you to @vancherryblossomfest for inviting me to participate as a young and emerging artist, this was such an amazing experience to plan and host this.
Don't forget that there's still more activities and events to see!!

Over the past year or so I've been trying to expand my knowledge of different knots. This one especially marks a big accomplishment for me!!
I've spent literal years attempting and failing to complete the chrysanthemum knot.
But after a long day, I finally got it down! I can now make one in 10 minutes :-)))

An exploration and appreciation of the everyday foods in my life, such as the humble cabbage. Connecting to my culture through food has always been meaningful and an ongoing practice. Planning on making this a series of 3.
파 is next!

One of my favourite artworks broke while moving back home, so I decided to spare the fragments and turned it into a pocket altar hoping to continue my creative journey and inspire myself in the future.
My current items in my little carry pouch are a tiny origami crane, a lot match, and 2 pieces of sea glass.

Ethnic Smoke
2024
Acrylic on wood, acrylic
44 x 32 cm

Inspired by a backhanded compliment on a previous artwork, describing the way I illustrate smoke as "ethnic". Reflecting on my artistic influences I had gained from absorbing elements of East Asian culture throughout my life. This piece explores the intangiblity and indefinitiveness of grasping my cultural identity. A reverse-mirror inspired by 나전칠기 (najeonchilgi) objects found in domestic spaces aims to put in question the audience's own view of cultural expression, artist insertion, and discussions that can be lead on identity based artworks.
