And last but most definitely not least our last senior spotlight …

Meet : 🐙ANAYAH BROOKS 🐙
Seasons spinning : 8 🥳
Weapon of choice: rifle/sabre
Fav toss: walkover orrr 2 turn under a 5

Sighhh where to begin with this one of a kind soul. Starting her 1st year with the guard in 2022 with her first show being “ The Edge” Anayah b has continued to fill in a legacy that will be impossible to fulfill. When you ask us who is the most dedicated , hardworking, talented, and passionate student athlete is , we’ll tell you that it is Anayah. Going from sports in and outside of school back to back every week while also balancing school work and her captain duties is something that anayah brooks has been doing her entire high school career. And we adore and admire her for it. Although the stress may get to her sometimes, she always figures out a way to power through and bring her team forward with her. The gap that will be left behind of her presence with be filled with memories of laughter and even louder counting from Anayah b. A weapon captain who is always going above and beyond to have her people looking amazing and show ready. Her love for this sport is like no other and we know that anyone who is around her can feel the deep admiration she has for Color Guard. Pushing people forward when she knows they are close to the finish line is something Anayah does for fun. We love her and wish her the best in her last winter season. As she closes this chapter of her life we hope that she takes everything that she has learned with us and applies it to her bright future that we know she’s going to accomplish. We love you so so much Shanayah Cooks continue making us proud and being the best person you can be🤍.

Fun fact!!! : She’s the Our one and ONLY 4 year vet and is the ONLY one left from her 1st season “The Edge” 😌🎊 by @greenmachine_colorguard

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!🐥

MEET: Gabriela De Paz
SEASONS SPINNING: 6
WEAPONS OF CHOICE: Sabre/rifle
FAVORITE TOSS: Triple blade toss on Sabre
FUNFACTS! You’re gonna catch her hitting this face 😛-every single day x10000000, she designed her cousins tattoo, she has like 800 different passions & career ideas. Loves ducks, favorite color is mustard yellow.

Ella is one of our most compassionate members. She’s not only here for the sport but she’s here for the people. De Paz started spinning her sophomore year(marching) and ever since then she has made it her destiny to grow and improve. Alongside that she’s always helping someone out, new or old. Making people feel comfortable and confident while spinning has been another goal of hers. You’ll notice her going around talking to the newbies trying to make them feel welcome & at home. Always listening, lending us a helpful hand even when she has other things to worry about herself. De Paz is the PRIME example of a team player. Ofc with every graduating senior our team won’t work the same but without her we wouldn’t function the same. Shouting out counts, applying her corrections, helping anyone that needs while also making sure her own work looks tea 🤏 speaking of tea, she was our only weapon line member last season to learn how to spin two pieces of equipment at once. She took that tsk greatfully, & worked her *** off making sure she didn’t look like the newbie on weapon. Bc of this she’s an example of hard work pays off bc at the end of that season you wouldn’t be able to tell she was new to not one, but two pieces of weapon. #coocoobananas. Not even a whole month after that season ended she joined a dci, spun those two weapons amungst others who’ve spun weapon longer than her and held her own. Now she’s confidently spinning both weapons, spreading encouragement to new weapons, while continuing to flourish on her own. She’s not afraid to take time out of her day if it helps benefit her guard. Aside from improving she loves seeing all of the others improve. Ella the person you are helps this guard for the better thank you so much for being you and continuing to grow and blossom. good luck with all you do. We love you-💛 by @greenmachine_colorguard

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT👩‍🎤

MEET: Adaleen Lopez
SEASONS SPINNING:2
WEAPON OF CHOICE: Flag
FAVORITE: money toss
FUNFACTS! She likes photo cards, collectibles, figurines, & books.

Adaleen started marching her freshie year as a trumpet, she was good at keeping her section in check and an amazing lil 🎺 player, but when jr year came around she was ready for a change. She was one of our most ambitious members and still is. Now that she’s gained some knowledge she shares it with some of the noobs to help them improve as well. She’s a very comforting person to be around always smiling, dancing, or sending love across the field. When she puts her mind to something she gets it done. She don’t play when it comes to her work, her timing, or her improvement. If you forget a step or a count in the work you can trust Adabean to teach you right. If there’s something she’s not 100 percent getting trust and believe next time you see her that she got that. She helped her section of dancers during winter by going over steps and counts with them so they’d be like one person all in unison. Though the dancers last season looked like one person dancing you can tell her apart from the rest and see her mile away by her gorgeous bright purple hair. Its one of the things that make her stand out from her rest. Some other things that makes her stand out is her music taste, her style, and her ambition. She doesn’t stop trying, she’s always ready for the next step and she stays improving on the steps behind. Looking around during field you’ll see her, one of the first to start spinning. “Go get water!” Yea she will, but after she takes this toss one more time to get it solid. When we’re not doing anything guess who has a flag in hand, Adaleen. She is our hardworking ambitious queen and we love her for that. She never stops working and it’s so so evident. Looking around the guard you would never guess that this is only her second season spinning. If she gets knocked down she gets back up and comes back stronger. Everyone should channel a bit of a her in them. The ambition, the work drive, the improvement. Our cutie patootie senior, we so proud of you. Wishing you the best of luck in the future💜 by @greenmachine_colorguard

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!🩰

MEET: Melanie Vargas
SEASONS SPINNING: 3
WEAPON OF CHOICE:Flag
FAVORITE TOSS: one handed 45
FUN FACT! She can dance flamenco💃

For our next senior spotlight we have Melanie Vargas. Our Melly belly is one of the silliest sweetest people you’ll meet. She started spinning marching of her jr year and when she came in she impressed all of us with her amazballs dance skills. Melanie is our #1 dancer, always dances with grace and precision. When you watch her dance you can’t look away it’s like you’re hypnotized or something.. When she spins she does it so light and full of pose, it’s such a beautiful sight to see. Gorgeous body work, yummy facials and always improving. Some people were a lil nervous when they first met her, they thought she had an rbf, but once you speak to her your life is changed, and you wouldn’t want it any other way. Melanie’s done a lot in the full year she’s been spinning with us and we’re proud of her for it. She’s not afraid to speak her truth so long as it means bettering herself and the guard. If you see her at school without fail she’ll call you out to wave and chat for a bit. When you see her during the stretch blocks you’ll catch her dancing or hitting some silly little poses.. The vibe you feel when around her makes you wanna let loose and have fun. Melanie is a very passionate person and it shows. She’s also a very expressive person and you can see that in her face during shows, or any and all conversations. She expresses herself through her movement and her creativity. whether it’s spinning, dancing, singing, or hitting her silly little poses, she expresses herself and shows the world who she is. She shows off what she knows and is proud of her progress and continues to get better every time we see her. She’s never afraid to be out going and shine like a star when others are dim and dull. We love you so much Melanie and we wish you the absolute best luck in your future 💕 by @greenmachine_colorguard

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!🎀

MEET: Sharleen Mellado
SEASONS SPINNING:5
WEAPON OF CHOICE: Flag
FAVORITE TOSS: one handed 45
FUN FACT! She has her own little small business selling baked goodies!

Starting off strong with the one and only Sharleen M, she started spinning her 10th grade year and has been impressing people left and right ever since. Sharleen got promoted to captain her second year like the boss she is. She may seem intimidating on the surface but getting to know her is one of the highlights of this sport. You feel her love, her charm and her passion for this sport and those around her. She’s always there when you need help or you need someone to make you laugh. Our guard wouldn’t make it without her as our beast of a flag captain. Even though she only had one year of experience before becoming a captain she is the best co-captain anyone and their mamas could wish for. She stand on business always ready, always confident, always leading. She’s just that girl. It brings tears to my eyes knowing one day she won’t be here leading and spinning with us. The void in our hearts can’t be filled by just anyone. There only one Sharleen Mellado and our guard just won’t be the same again without her. She leads gracefully and powerfully and when there’s work to be done she’s on that. Making sure her guard improves in any way she can. Sharleen M was one of my favorite newbies back in her day. Looking back I think of how scared she was to toss a simple cone toss, but she still tried to and when she got hit she picked it right back up and tried again and again until she got it. She doesn’t quit and she continues to improve and blow peoples minds out of the park. She was glowing way back when she started(no I’m being serious the skin care was on 1000.) and she’s still shining even brighter than today. Our baddest b flag queen will always have a spot in our hearts. We love you so so so so much. Wishing you all the luck in your future, can’t wait to see you shining brighter than ever-🩷 by @greenmachine_colorguard
