Look: Filipino climate survivors are taking a courageous stand. They are suing Shell in London, where its global headquarters is located, for the devastating harms they suffered during Super Typhoon Odette (Rai), which claimed 405 lives and injured over 1,400 people in the Philippines back in 2021.

Climate scientists say the extreme weather brought by Odette was made more likely by climate change, driven by fossil fuel combustion. This landmark case is the first of its kind and scale against an oil and gas company for deaths, injuries, and property damage that have already occurred.

The case deals with Shell’s historic carbon emissions, deception, and disinformation about climate change, which the company has known about since 1965.

By standing with communities in their fight for climate accountability, we can prove that ordinary people can rise up against corporate giants and make them pay for the damages they have caused.

300+ people. 7 countries. One message.
On the shores of Keeri Beach, Mannar, people came together to turn their collective voices into a powerful call for climate justice.

Because no matter where we come from, we share one planet. And those profiting from its destruction must be held accountable.

Our voices are rising. Together we #MakePollutersPay

Last year, communities from Bohol and other parts of the Visayas region announced that they will be suing Shell.

This is the first civil claim of its scale to directly link fossil fuel companies to death, personal injury, and property damage in the Global South.

Using Philippine law and climate science, the claimants are demanding financial accountability from Shell. They are relying on research proving that human-caused climate change more than doubled the likelihood of Super Typhoon Odette. With the help of activists in London, the formal legal notice was delivered straight to Shell's global headquarters.

The people who contributed the least to the climate crisis are fighting on the frontlines. Corporate polluters must pay. Share this post to amplify their voices and stand with our climate survivors. Sign the petition if you haven’t yet. >>> https://www.odettecase.org/#Form-Section-Home

The heat is rising. 🔥

The seas are rising. 🌊

But PEOPLE are rising too. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽

On Keeri Beach in Mannar, Sri Lanka, more than 300 people from 7 countries came together to make one message impossible to ignore: the climate crisis is here and polluters must pay!

Through ‘The Rising’ - a living artwork choreographed by ocean artist Subodh Kerkar - frontline communities turned their lived experiences into a powerful call for climate justice and accountability.

Big polluters like oil and gas companies cannot continue to profit, while the people least responsible pay the highest price.

It’s time to hold them accountable.

This International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, we are reminded that Resilience Starts at Home—but the home should be a place of safety, not a frontline where we are left to fend for ourselves against supercharged storms.

For far too long, Filipinos have carried the weight of surviving climate disasters on their own shoulders. While we are praised for our "resilience," fossil fuel giants continue to pollute our atmosphere and turn extreme weather into the new normal.

Resilience should never mean surviving disasters alone. Together, we can build safer communities, demand accountability, and protect a future where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Stand for climate justice. Protect our tomorrow. Donate now. >>> act.gp/DDRDay2026

Since 1971, Greenpeace has stood firmly against violence in all its forms. On International Day of Non-Violence, we're reminded that real, lasting change is possible without physical force, harm, or destruction.

Even in the face of aggression, we remain committed to peaceful, creative action—confronting polluters directly to win hearts and minds.

The haze problem remains unresolved despite decades.⁣
⁣
⚠️🚨Today Greenpeace Malaysia together with Himpunan Advokasi Rakyat Malaysia (HARAM), is bringing the people’s voices forward through a peaceful gathering to submit a memorandum to the Embassy of Indonesia.⁣
⁣
Stop the blame game while those responsible for the destruction of peatlands and forest fires that recur every year remain protected and unaccountable.⁣
⁣
The Indonesian authorities are investigating 19 companies holding concessions where fires had affected 11,047 hectares across seven provinces, so we urgently demand that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia clearly disclose the Malaysian companies involved in the peatland fires and environmental destruction taking place in Kalimantan, Indonesia.⁣
⁣
Instead of taking decisive action, various parties continue to point fingers at one another, even though this is clearly an environmental crime (or crisis) that demands immediate government intervention. It is painfully clear that meaningful action will only happen if governments choose to act with firmness, integrity, and transparency.⁣
⁣
Expose those responsible. ⁣
Name the culprits. ⁣
Take action now!⁣
⁣
People are suffering. Our health is at risk. Our lives are in danger. This cannot continue year after year.⁣
⁣
Enough is enough. We demand transparency. We demand accountability. We demand action! [Link in bio]👆⁣

Heroism is a choice. But in times of crisis, it becomes a necessity.

From the #Philippines to #Nepal, ordinary people have stepped up to save neighbours, families and strangers from devastating floods.

This Philippine National Heroes Day, we honour their courage while fighting for a future where survival does not depend on heroism.

Communities deserve protection, accountability and justice. #climatejustice by @greenpeaceph

Heroism isn't just in history books—it's in the actions we take today for our environment. 🌿

Like the walis tingting, a single voice is small, but bound together, we are unbreakable. Greenpeace receives ₱0 from corporations or governments—we rely on everyday people to keep our movement independent and fearless.

#SEAblings represent! 🌏 POV: You’re working with an intergenerational feminist team fighting for environmental justice. ✊🏽

🌈 Last week, we joined “Queer and Feminist Lives in a Struggling Planet: A Southeast Asian Convening on ASEAN and Environmental Rights,” a space for queer and feminist activists, human rights defenders, and allies across the region to come together and find solutions to the polycrisis, organised by our fierce allies at ASEAN SOGIE Caucus @aseansogiecaucus and together with Greenpeace Southeast Asia. 🇮🇩🇵🇭🇲🇾 @greenpeaceph @greenpeacemy

Across the region, communities are facing the brunt of climate change, environmental destruction, and corporate greed. Too often, corporations escape accountability for the harm they inflict on the environment and on frontline communities whose lives and livelihoods are deeply connected to land, forests, rivers, and seas.

But as crises multiply, so must our solidarity fortify! ⚡

Here’s to relentless collective action, shared solutions, and radical movements strong enough to demand accountability from governments, corporate giants, and all who profit from environmental destruction!

If we're not submerged in floods, we're scorched by extreme heat.

This is what Filipinos, including fisherfolk in Navotas City, are facing amid the worsening climate crisis and the looming Super El Niño.

They say that when the sun used to rise, it was a sign of hope. But now, it brings fear.

The worsening climate crisis is not only bringing stronger storms and floods. It is also bringing extreme heat.

#HeatStress has long-term impacts on our communities, threatening their livelihoods, safety, and future.
