Here is my second work to be included in the @imprintartfair Director’s Cut called ’Peony’ which is 38x29 cm. It is available as an edition of 20. The image originates from a photo I took of a bunch of Peonies that I had in the kitchen. Flowers are something that I am drawn to photographically but this is the first time I have ever made a print of them. I am really pleased with the outcome and especially the sculptural quality of the petals.

The Director’s Cut showcases works that stood out during the selection process for Imprint, but could not all be accommodated within the physical Fair which is taking place at the end of October in Westminster. There is a really wide range of distinctive approaches to contemporary print with some stunning work available. So a great opportunity to buy one of my works, or be inspired to buy something by another artist!

Link in bio via Linktree but hurry as prints are only available until 25th Sept!

Very pleased to be included in the @imprintartfair Director’s Cut with my print ‘San Giorgio Maggiore’ which is 47x36cms. There is an edition of 20, with this example printed in blue. But I have also have some in browns or blacks. It was chosen from this year’s Open Call. It was great to be able to hear @iantucknott reading from and talking about his first poetry collection, Filthy Lucre Greening @citylit on Friday night. Ian read 4 poems and was in conversation, discussing influences, inspirations, his lived experiences and how he wrote. This was followed by a book signing and private view of the exhibition, of which I am one of the artists. It was an evening filled with emotion as Ian was surrounded by family, friends, colleagues and learners from previous courses he has run.

The poems are brilliant and ‘Filthy Lucre Greening’ can be ordered via the publisher @writtenoffpublishing

Checking @citylit front desk the building is open until this Friday if you want to go and take a look. Some really great responses to Ian’s poems and a lovely little catalogue too! taken in City Lit by @gregbeavis

This is the third of my works that is currently on show @citylit in the exhibition “Filthy Lucre Greening” where a collection of artists have responded to @iantucknott poetry collection of the same name published by @writtenoffpublishing THIS FRIDAY.

This is called ‘What shape are those feelings’ and there is a companion piece ‘What shape are those thoughts’. Once again inspiration came from Ian’s poem Two Mouthed (A Therapeutic Dialogue) that I discussed in my last post. I have so many mixed emotions looking back to my own therapeutic ‘journey’ but for me these two pieces are ultimately optimistic and full of possibility.

Here is the second work that I made in response to the poetry collection ‘Filthy Lucre Greening’ by @iantucknott published by @writtenoffpublishing on 12th December. This piece is on show in @citylit gallery alongside works by a diverse range of artists working in a range of media.

This work is called ‘To shit or to speak’ which is a line from Ian’s poem ‘Two Mouthed (a Therapeutic Dialogue)’. What I really responded to was my experience of being in therapy as well as my time training to be a therapist. The struggle to be known, to be understood, to be accepted, by your counsellor and yourself. The experience of missing one another (therapeutically) and how deflated that left me. There is a profound line ‘It and not it’ which refers to the complexity of life - not either/or but both. Yes it is that, but it is also this. Accepting that opposing emotions can exist at the same time and in the same moment.

But also how much at times my therapist really annoyed me as they struggled to offer their interpretations or sum up what I had said! I wanted to channel all of this into the artwork.

I have not posted on here for some time but I have been busy working on a very exciting project. The poet @iantucknott is just about to publish his first collection of poetry called “Filthy Lucre Greening” (released on 12th December) published by @writtenoffpublishing. He approached some artists and asked them to respond to his poetry, in any way they felt inspired to do so. This work is now on show and can be seen at:

I have never produced work from poetry before. Obviously it really helped that Ian’s poems are amazing, full of such strong and complex images, both sensual and sexual, mysterious and poignant. I decided to work on 10 A2 images at once and let the work evolve and see that happened. I am going to post more about my working process and the other artists taking part in the show over the next couple of days.

But if you are in the vicinity of City Lit please go in and take a look at the exhibition. Here is one of my works called “How we lost those who followed other paths” taken directly from a line of Ian’s poem ‘This is what I did’

I’m very pleased to announce that my print ‘Church of Saint Euphemia, Venice’ is part of the Director’s Cut for Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair this year and is available to buy (link in bio). It has recently been exhibited in London and was a recipient of the Lowes Dickinson Prize for print.

The image is a photopolymer etching that originates from a photo I took inside the church in Guidecca, Venice. It is printed in black and then hand coloured with watercolour.

Discover my work alongside the other exceptional artists that were shortlisted by WCPF’s panel of industry experts at the final stage of judging for their International Artist Open Call. Definitely something for everyone if you want to invest in a piece of original artwork-check out the @woolwichcontemporaryprintfair main site to take you to the Director’s Cut!
