I am beyond honored to have been shortlisted for the 2024 Derwent Art Prize! This pencil art competition is always extremely competitive and this year was no different. The panel selected just 69 pieces out of 6,073 entered from 70 countries, and I’m still shocked that my drawing of the Staten Island Lighthouse was among those chosen. My drawing will join other incredible works of pencil at the exhibition in London beginning April 4th. Thank you to the @derwentartprize for this incredible opportunity!

112 years ago today, the R.M.S. Titanic pulled away from Southampton, England and her maiden voyage officially began. This pencil drawing is my interpretation of that moment. Just 5 days later, she would be gone.

I’m so happy to share that my drawing “The Last Stop” has received a Special Merit Award in Art & Color 356 Magazine’s Landscape/Seascape competition, and will be published in the next issue. This drawing depicts the Titanic anchored at its final port of call in Queenstown, Ireland, and was the last time she’d ever see land, and I’m so glad it resonated with the jurors of this competition as it’s one of my favorites. Congratulations to all of the recognized artists!

OUT NOW - It has been said by those who sailed with her that Titanic had a personality. Our next witness knows this all too well and has spent years bringing her back to life with only pencil and paper. The past few years, my daughter has asked me to draw her something for her birthday. This year, she asked that I draw our dog Charlie with the number 13 since she’s becoming a teenager. Well I may have turned him into a muppet but I tried! Happy birthday Gabby!
