Composer, jazz trumpeter, terrible but well-intentioned baker. Helping artists get their dream academic jobs: gregsimonmusic.com/coaching

We always understood there was a budget crisis. We were never denying that tough decisions had to be made. All we asked was that faculty have a real, meaningful voice in what those decisions would mean.

One year ago, the former Chancellor and his team made some awful, short-sighted budget decisions that cost 58 people their jobs and torpedoed the degree aspirations of hundreds of students. The Regents and President affirmed those decisions. Now, when the casualties are permanent and the predictable negative consequences of those decisions are coming true, NU administration and the BOR are trying to sing a song of valuing faculty (or resigning and letting it be someone else’s problem). At this point, we know that they’re full of shit. So does AAU.

But it didn’t have to be this way. We could have helped. We could have guided the process towards a solution that didn’t gut the faculty this university relies on. We would have stood behind the tough choices that we always knew had to be made. All Bennett and Gold needed to do was listen to us.

Either way, the damage is done - locally, and to UNL’s reputation globally. Let the people who made this happen own every inch of it. by @gregsimonmusic

Nine months and hundreds of hours later, the music for the UFJO's debut album is done. 💿 coming Spring 2027, with an intense cast of killers from Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Michigan, and beyond. More to come about where you can hear it and how you can support the project – for now, get pumped. by @gregsimonmusic

@jodirenee.giron is a powerhouse. She’s a poet, a glorious musician, a fierce advocate, a leader, a protector, and a community builder. She’s the most generous friend anyone could ask for. She’s an incredible mom, to dogs and humans alike. She’s a beam of light that seeps into every corner of the darkness. And today, she’s celebrating her 50th trip around the sun. Give her some love and celebration. ♥️ by @gregsimonmusic
