POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The many conducting faces and gestures of my amazing friend @gregsimonmusic . It was such an honor to be part of his album this past weekend. We laughed, we cried, we ate, we played well, and we brought his music to life. I can’t wait for y’all to hear this album. #ufjo #unitedfrontjazzorchestra #nebraska #UNL

Day 2 of the United Front Jazz Orchestra’s record rehearsals was a huge success. In it, we played this tune — @gregsimonmusic’s Roguelike…which may very well just be one of the hardest big band tunes I have ever played. It is definitely a step outside my comfort zone but very rewarding! It is very unforgiving and you have to be completely focused. This is the end of the tune…roughly 290 measures in. It is a mental workout. Can’t wait to hit the studio with this group today!

Deep in the shed for Greg Simon’s debut big band recording session this week! Can’t wait to see and connect with everyone. This music is really cool and unlike much of what I have played before in a big band context, so I am finding myself trying to over prepare so I can deliver on the date of the session. Here’s a progress report — verdict? Much more work to be done!! Thank you, Greg, for trusting me with your music.

~ Brevard 26’ ~ 🌳🎼🦆

This summer has been absolutely magical! Being in a place so full of energy and a shared love for music has been truly inspiring, and I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to attend. I’ve learned so much, not only about music and composition, but also about what it means to become a better artist and person. For that, I am deeply thankful to Brevard Music Center! ⭐️🎹🌦️

After 6 weeks at the wonderful Brevard Music Festival, I'm back in Louisiana! I've had the chance to meet so many amazing people, learn so much, and see so many terrific performances (as well as play in a few of the high school concerts, which I wasn't expecting!)

The opportunity to go study composition at Brevard is one I am extremely grateful for. As I prepare to go into my last year of undergraduate studies at LSU, this has given me an incredible boost in motivation and more insight on how I can be better as both a composer and a performer. I'm hoping to keep this momentum going!

To all of you I met at Brevard, thank you, because every single one of you have inspired me in some way.

(Also I never posted it, but I turned 21 at the very beginning of the festival, and luckily I had a chance to have breakfast with my dad and brother for my birthday/Father's Day, which is what the final picture is!)

(Also also, sorry if I missed a tag, there's a lot of people 😭)

The Moores School Percussion Ensemble I presents “Cold-Blooded,” our 2026 Spring Concert. The program explores the double meaning of the term—drawing upon allusions to our reptilian friends but also contemplating on violent, heartless acts against others. The program includes Greg Simon’s “Snake Oil,” Yiheng Yvonne Wu’s “Violent Tender,” Adam Silverman’s “Sparklefrog,” Gemma Peacocke’s “Death Wish,” Dan Welcher’s “Chameleon Music,” and “Dancing with Snakes” by MSPE I director Blake Wilkins. Join us live or by livestream at the link in our bio. #percussion #percussionensemble
