What. A. Ride. A very grotesque and emotional ride. Leo, Ambrose, Clarence and Zeke all have such a complexity that I found myself wanting to know more and more. Will I ever be over these boys?!

Leo and Clarence’s dynamic was easily one of my favorite parts of this story. Complicated, twisted, and somehow still strangely compelling and moving. Their love felt very Shakespearean to me, and we all unfortunately know how tragic that tends to be. 🥀

There are things I could say, but honestly? You need to experience them for yourself. 🫣😉

Some very questionable feasts. Some even more questionable indulgences. And moments where the line between hunger, desire, and something much darker becomes almost impossible to distinguish.

Once you know… YOU. WILL. KNOW.

Deeply disturbing, grotesque, messy and dark… Yet somehow, @mmtixier.author managed to weave all of it together into something so beautifully twisted that I couldn’t look away.

Devastating, haunting, beautiful….

I wanted nothing more than to wrap Jonathan in my arms and make him feel safe and loved. This also tickled my brain just right after finishing Widow’s Bay, I missed that creepy little seaside town and I got to enter a new one, and once I entered Kelcarrow, I didn’t want to leave.

I don’t think I’ll ever stumble upon an author whose words hit the way CG’s do. They cut and burrow deep into your skin and sit there and rot and become a part of you in such a visceral, beautiful way. Somehow, they manages to take the ugliest, most painful parts of being human and turn them into something achingly beautiful. Scorpion Deep broke my heart in ways I wasn’t prepared for, but somehow it also put it back together.

And then there’s the way they make you question everything. What’s real? What isn’t? What can you trust, and what are you supposed to make of what you’re seeing? I spent so much of this book questioning what I knew, and honestly, that uncertainty made reading it even more fun. There’s something so addictive about never quite knowing where the truth ends and something else begins. And when you finally reach the end, you’re left sitting there with that deliciously unsettling feeling of …but what if?

Now I’m left with that horrible, beautiful feeling of finishing a book I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to. I could have devoured this in a day. Instead, I savored it. Five stars. Easily. 💔

I didn’t love this one, but I can’t deny that it got under my skin. There were multiple moments where I just sat there thinking, what the actual fuck did I just read?! 😂

The premise is disturbing, and the casual way some of the horrific things are treated made it even worse. It definitely struck a chord, but it’s not a book I enjoyed… which I think is exactly how this one should be, because my lord. I do think I’ll forever be mad the big dogs didn’t come eat those stupid teenagers that would have made it a lot better in my opinion 🙄🙃

Sometimes it’s the little things in life. Like putting all your new books up on your library shelves and refreshing your upstairs bookshelf a little.

I know I’ve touched on it before, but life has been absolutely chaotic lately along with a lot of changes. It’s taking me longer to read. I’m not feeling motivated or creative….. But I’m doing my best to get my spark back and slowly but surely I’m getting there. by @grim_readerrr
