When a white lie goes too far…

Come see Dave live on October 16th at 7pm, at the Grindstone Studio, with Marito Lopez, a part of the Grindstone Comedy Series!

Dave Merheje is considered to be one of the most original standup voices on the comedy scene today. His multiple award-winning act has gained a loyal following across North America with his “no fear” approach on stage and a comedy style best described as aggressive in-your-face funny. Dave had his first comedy special air in Australia on ABC2.

His second special “Good Friend Bad Grammar” won the 2019 Juno Award for Comedy Album of the year. His third special “Beautifully Manic,” can be seen on Netflix as part of Comedians of the World, and his fourth special titled “I Love You Habibi” is streaming on AppleTV and was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award. Dave’s latest special ‘Dawud’ was recently nominated for a 2026 Juno and is available on YouTube.

Yesterday, Edmonton reminded us that live events sometimes come with a little unpredictability. ⛈️💛

Despite the thunderstorm, our community showed up with patience, kindness, and incredible energy. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the second day of the Grindstone Comedy Festival Outdoor shows so memorable.

The festival continues today, and all outdoor performances are still happening! If the weather changes, we’re fully prepared to move performances to a comfortable indoor space within the festival site, so the show can go on without missing a beat.

If you have any questions, please email gcfproducer@grindstonetheatre.ca or send us a message here on Instagram or Facebook.

Thank you for rolling with the weather and continuing to support live comedy. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another great day at the festival! 💛 by @grindstonecomedyfest

Just as I hit the stage last night at the @grindstonecomedyfest Mother nature rudely heckled - reminded me of when we did our #StandupInKandahar show and got rocket attacked twice. We rallied inside and had a super fun show. No one was hurt and a lot of people laughed. Great job staff and volunteers! by @grindstonecomedyfest
