Would you believe me, if I said the only person I took a photo with at SHOT, was @blakecookactual ? Thousands of new products. Hundreds of "celebrities" But I do not care to give my time to the ones who are seeking a crowd.
I want to invest in the ones who do draw a crowd, by being exactly what they portray to be. Real recognizes real.
If you ask me if I have heroes, I will tell you "no"
My hero, was mocked and beaten.
He hung on a blood soaked cross.
My hero defeated death, hell, and the grave.

But I do have those next to me, running the same race.

@blakecookactual is a great man. Who is running the race.

As I'm getting ready to board a plane, and fly back to the United States.
I will always remember the smell, sights, and sounds of the slum.
The pile of garbage you see behind me is what's known as the "niarobi river"
What once used to be clean/fresh water. Is now sewage and garbage. Just the smell alone makes it hard to breathe.
The kids and dogs are playing in and digging through the piles of garbage.
Most everyone who lives in the tin huts, which make up the Kibera slum, live off less than a dollar a day.
It's a constant hustle. With no thought or preparation for tomorrow.

The wilderness and the temple.
-
The woods, the lake, the mountains, the ocean, that isn't church!
The reason you feel close to God in nature is explained by Paul in his letter to the Romans:
Romans 1:20
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."

That does not make it your church. In fact, It actually makes you more accountable. Because you are now without excuse!

The problem with viewing nature as your church, is it's from the perspective of "I'm in this for me"

"I go to the woods because that's where I feel closest to God. I don't have to go to church"

Translation: I just wanna do what feels good. Without actually serving anyone but myself.

That place in nature can absolutely become your prayer closet, your altar, and your meeting place with the father. All through scripture, we see men especially (including Jesus) retreat to the wilderness to mourn, weep, pray, and seek refuge.

We also see these same men (including Jesus) in the temples. Praying, worshipping, leading, teaching, serving, being taught, and sacrificing.

The wilderness and the temple are both needed in the life of a Christian.

God placed Adam and Eve in the garden (nature)
And then the moment Jesus gave up his spirit to the Father, the veil in the temple was torn. So that all believers could freely enter.

Go to nature to increase.
Go to nature to meet the Father.
Go to nature to recharge.
Go to nature to weep.
Go to nature to seek wisdom.
And then go to church to build up the body.
Go to church to encourage believers.
Go to church to serve.
Go to church to grow.
Go to church to have peer accountability.
Go to church to be poured into.
Go to church to have community.
Go to church to be taught. by @grizzle31

"Vanity of vanities" הֲבֵל הֲבָלִים

I dreamed of this stuff as a kid. Guns, cameras, NV, lasers, thermal, gear,.....etc. Don't misread what I'm saying; it's cool! But it's not as fulfilling as I believed. As a matter of fact; by itself, it's not fulfilling at all. And It doesn't satisfy!
There's only a few thing that I've come to know, that is not vanity. And that's the gospel of Jesus Christ, Working hard, And relationships with people.
But without the gospel, without Christ, even hard work and relationships are vanity! by @grizzle31

Go to school for 12 years. Go to college for at least 4 more. Get a decent paying job. Spend more time with coworkers than family. Buy a house you're never at and you'll never pay off.
Let the fun stop. Let the adventure end. This is what we call "real life"
Where did this lie come from?

Wanna know why people are miserable, ready to retire and die? They lose the sense of adventure. Their form of excitement is a kiddy park or a new restaurant.

Miss out on "real life" and you'll see the life everyone is living, is part of a planned system. by @grizzle31

Your testimony is perfect. Because it's not about you!
"My testimony isn't as good as yours"
"I'm building my testimony"
"I wish I had a testimony"

Your testimony isn't a possession of yours! It's not yours to hold onto, boast about, or be bashful about. And it doesn't have to be defended!

A testimony serves as evidence to prove or disprove a claim.

When you share your testimony, you're simply adding to the evidence, that proves Jesus' claims about himself. That he is exactly who he says he is!

Jesus is on trial. And you're the witness-called to the stand-every day! by @grizzle31
