On October 10th we invite you to join us for our next brunch and learn where we will be doing just that, learning from members of our own community who have been able to reach scale and build out real real estate development businesses.

Come learn the real, the hard lessons learned, how they dealt with contractors, NOs and financing to get to where they currently are.

We’ll have good food provided by Chef Cat, while enjoying a couple mimosas, then after you’re done, go next door and check out some art from local artists, in a space owned mostly by members from BYP.

This is what happens when we come together.

Historic Black Wall Streets and neighborhoods were self-contained, prosperous economic and cultural hubs built by Blacks during the Jim Crow era. Here are FIVE other “Black Wall Streets” that thrived.
• Jackson Ward (Richmond, VA): Known as the
“Harlem of the South,” it was a vibrant hub of Black banking, insurance, and entertainment.
• Sweet Auburn (Atlanta, GA): Home to thriving Black-owned businesses, professional offices, and civil rights landmarks.
• Bronzeville (Chicago, IL): A major cultural and economic center for African Americans during the Great Migration.
• Hayti (Durham, NC): A flourishing business and residential district built on self-determination and community investment.
• Farish Street (Jackson, MS): One of the largest and most active Black commercial districts in the American South.

The amazing thing about art is its different interpretation and what others see through art.
🖼️
Tonight 7/7 at 7P with host @juanfrommadison we invite you to join an experience a discussion about art, hospitality and scripture.

Anchor Scripture
Habakkuk 2:2
“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”
Vision gives direction.
Hospitality gives vision a place to live.

We’re reimagining what community development looks like. We believe in the power of community, and stand on business, where culture and innovation meet. Greenwood Row is more than a place; it’s a movement—where black-owned businesses thrive and neighbors become connected. We’re building a legacy, one block at a time.

If I woulda told you 10, even 5 years ago that we would have an art gallery in West Baltimore on W. Baltimore Street, and that we would do it without getting any institutional capital, or any real subsidy or any help from our politicians, most wouldn’t have thought it possible. Now we’re hosting blind whiskey tastings, podcasts, and infused tea and candle making classes with more to come. Improving communities is not easy but it’s possible. by @grnwdrow

So another hard part about doing this type of work, like really at the community level, is that you really just gotta try ish and see if it works. Businesses aren’t beating down the door to open brick & mortars, especially on corridors that haven’t been invested in in years…at least not the type of businesses that I envision, so you work backwards. How do you help to build foot traffic to make that area more attractive to businesses. You just gotta take the financial risk and then hope you can find the right operators to bring the vision to life. We’ve built the art gallery, that seems to work, now we are building a juice bar, and a co-working space because if we want to have healthy communities, we gotta have amenities, and healthy food/juice options and opportunities for entrepreneurs to learn and grow. This is all trial and error…but on my Kevin Costner ish #fieldofdreams #buildittheywillcome. by @grnwdrow
