Here’s my pumpkin…first time I’ve tried this! My wife couldn’t figure it out. 😂 by @grossweather

One of my annual highlights! It was once again a privilege to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the @mdusbc_bowling Hall of Fame Induction dinner. Being inducted into the official Bowling Capital of the World’s HOF is a pretty big deal…so glad to be a part of this special night every year! 🎳🥇 by @grossweather

Sometimes, these Petoskey stones take a LOT of work. But boy is it worth the extra effort. Found this one yesterday…ended up becoming one of the best patterns I’ve ever had. 😍 by @grossweather

Your zen moment of the evening: an absolutely magnificent sunset over Lake Michigan as clearing from the west made it just far enough east for this spectacular show! What remarkable timing! by @grossweather

All set for the start of bowling season tonight! Can’t wait… by @grossweather

$I finally got to witness a rare “green flash” for the first time! Sunlight at sunset travels thru a lot of our atmosphere, which refracts (bends) the light like a prism. The shorter wavelength violet/blue colors scatter before reaching us, while the longer red/orange colors give us our pretty sunsets. If conditions are just right, just before going below the horizon a patch of green briefly appears above the sun. I was able to shoot this video tonight looking out over Lake Michigan. An eagle yesterday (see that post), and a green flash today. What a week! by @grossweather$

Hit Lake Michigan on the kayak late this afternoon…best day ever with no wind and the water like glass. Wait ‘til you see the last video…first time I’ve seen one up here! 🦅 by @grossweather

Took a chance on this one…wasn’t expecting anything that great, but it was worth a try. Ended up turning out nice! That’s the result of about 45 minutes of sanding and polishing… @petoskeystoneaddict by @grossweather

Saw this in a store today. Too funny not to share! 🤣 by @grossweather

Back from an unbelievable trip to #iceland. I cannot highly enough recommend a vacation there…so many incredible things to see. And the people there are amazing - Iceland may be the friendliest country on Earth! Our cruise included a day at sea to see the total solar eclipse, but my offer to help get the ship to the best place to see it was refused, and we were in a cloudier area farther west than I wanted us to be (you’ll notice the clearing to the east in the photo during totality). Fortunately, a few thin spots in the clouds allowed us to see some of the partial phase through the clouds (didn’t need our eclipse glasses), we just didn’t get to see the totality phase…only the dramatic passing of the shadow. But Iceland more than made up for that. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for this beautiful nation, and hope to go back and do the glacier hike we didn’t get to do. By the way, the last photo is one of their glaciers - and virtually every tour guide mentioned to us how global warming is shrinking them. 🇮🇸 by @grossweather

Just in: Scientists at World Weather Attribution have determined that global warming has so amplified Europe’s current extraordinary heat wave that it would have been virtually impossible at this time of year as recently as 50 years ago. They have further determined that the heat wave’s very warm overnight lows are 100 times more likely than as recently as 23 years ago during the infamous 2003 European heat wave. And the study also indicates that the developing El Niño has been completely ruled out as a driver of this heat. All science. No spin. No politics. Just another weather event highly consistent with what climate scientists have been telling us for decades. by @grossweather

Since my flight home was $800 less if I flew back Sunday instead of Saturday, it was a no-brainer to stay the extra day and enjoy Rome with some colleagues. And we DID Rome…walking virtually the entire city, seeing almost every major site to see. Here’s a little taste of the day. That was a LOT of steps in 95° heat! @forumeteoclimat by @grossweather
