Today our Dunamis Queens had the opportunity to learn financial literacy in a way they could actually experience!

Our October Guest Facilitator, Enuka Joseph, led the girls through a hands on budgeting challenge where they were given careers, income, expenses, and real life responsibilities and had to figure out how to make their money WORK. Then came the surprise… LIFE HAPPENS! 😩😂

Unexpected expenses meant budgets had to change, priorities had to shift, and decisions had to be made.

And THAT was the lesson.

Financial literacy isn’t simply about how much money you make. It’s understanding how to SPEND, SAVE, GIVE & GROW what comes into your hands.

But I especially loved that today’s lesson went beyond money.

The girls were challenged to think about self worth, boundaries, modesty, confidence, standards, and the decisions they are making TODAY for the women they are becoming tomorrow.

This is what we mean when we say Power. Poise. Purpose. 👑

I had the opportunity to speak to an amazing group of young women from the Dunamis Beauty Queen Cohort 💕

We had real conversations about self-love — not just the surface level kind, but the kind that starts with knowing who you are in Christ. Because when you understand how Jesus loves you, it changes everything about how you love yourself.

I shared my journey… from being a teen mom, to dropping out of college, to experiencing an abusive environment — and how God still restored me and rewrote my story.

Their energy, their openness, their presence… it was everything. Moments like this remind me that my story has purpose beyond me.

This wasn’t just a talk — it was impact.

To every young woman in that room: you are worthy, you are chosen, and your story is still being written ✨

It was such an amazing experience, and I’m truly grateful to have been nominated for She’s Doing It.

I lead with my heart and passion, and that’s what pushed me to start my nonprofit—to give back to my community in a real way. I remember learning about financial literacy as an adult and thinking, “I wish I knew this sooner.”

That moment stayed with me… and now, it’s a problem I’m committed to solving.

Today I stepped into the classroom to bring financial literacy to life 🙌🏽💡 Through my nonprofit Grow Girl Grow Boy, I created a hands-on game called Budgeting 3-D. Each student got a career, a salary, and beans as their “money” — then had to budget, pay bills, and make real-life choices.

The goal? To show our youth that financial decisions matter, and with the right tools, they can build a brighter future. 🌟💵
