I love to plant mangos with my old friend @drdrewdenson at his beautiful new home in St. Pete.
We planted three mango cultivars: the high brix Orange Sherbert, followed by the OG Indian flavor Malika, and finishing with the Lemon Zest in my last post 🥭
These trees were provided by @frootfarms originally from the legendary @zillplants 🫡

Harvesting tree ripened Haden mangos from my aunt and uncle’s 70 year old tree 🤯
I was honored to be invited to propagate rare banana cultivars and harvest racks with @will.harvest 🫡
Some of the banana 🍌 varieties we worked are Blue Java (ice cream), Praying Hands, Mysore, and of course Nam Wah. #harvesting #mangos #bananas #maturetrees #fruittrees taken in Fort Lauderdale, Florida by @growyourownfl

We always plant fruit trees 4-6 inches above the grade of soil, and amend the soil to feed the tree 🫡
This gorgeous Malika mango is from @frootfarms where you can also purchase the sifted @otowncompost
One of the best sizes of fruit trees is 15 gallon pot size like this one. It will establish great roots before it flowers hard in next 1-2 years and yields some heavenly fruit.

Phase 1 of a big install we are working on in Cocoa Beach for some lovely clients, with the help of the awesome family run operation @frootfarms 🫡
Wouldn’t be possible without them filling these huge beds with 8 yards of pure sifted @otowncompost and delivering all these gorgeous trees 💪🏼
A big thank you to @andrewtsmith_ for all his help installing and providing trees from @genesis_natural_nursery 🙏🏼
In phase 2, we will plant several more fruit trees and fill these huge garden beds with tons of veggie starts from our nursery! A total of 64 square feet to grow deep rooted huge veggies! This winter we will do a lot of broccoli and cauliflower in these beds as well.

Big fat juicy banana 🍌 rack incoming! I love the big rains because they always make my banana trees flower. Do you want to grow big racks like these? It’s all about biomass. Haden mangos are great, especially when eaten before they are overripe. These mangos have interesting coconut undertones. The tree they came from is massive, over 70 years old! 🤯 What a true blessing to harvest my uncle’s tree in Lauderdale, and then share with loved ones here in Orlando. Mango season always reminds me of how great it is to be from Florida. What a divine state we live in. 🥭 #growyourown #haden #mangos #treeripened #floridagrown by @growyourownfl

Highlights from mango season this year 🥭
As peak mango season slows down I’m already nostalgic. Nothing I love quite as much as this special fruit. Mangos are life! The most vital energy fruit for me is a tree ripened mango. All the mangos seen here are from South Florida. The fruits I harvested are from an old family tree in Fort Lauderdale where my family is from, and some mangos are from Pine Island in SWFL. #growyourown #mangos #harvesting #mango #floridamango taken in South Florida by @growyourownfl
