Outputs routed back as inputs: a ceaseless circuit of cause and effect. Sounds to bodies to objects to space—ad infinitum. Ever-feeding, never satiated, the network connects us all, existing before and after. The performance serves as a “during”: it allows us to explicate our relationship to the other, to designate a time and space that embeds us as part of the loop, neither positive nor negative, only therein.

Feedback is an exploration of the network nodes that go by the names Kasho Chualan, Thomas Grill, and IRK, and their respective extensions.

INVITATION TO JOIN THE WAVE FIELD SYNTHESIS LAB

A week of working with the Wave Field Synthesis system of the ÆSR Sound Projection Lab: 192 channels in the main room, 32 in the side room. Expect seminars on theory and practice, plenty of time for your own work at the system, and presentations over the weekend. You can work with fixed media or live input in WFSCollider (SuperCollider) and Max (SPAT).

It's the first time we're setting up the full system, so it's as much a test run for us as a course for everyone else.

Raviv Ganchrow (Institute of Sonology, The Hague) joins us as a guest. A collaboration between ÆSRL, ACME and the concert series @parken.or.liveinthepark , which will host a evening with the system on Saturday 19.09.

♥️ We are super happy that Rotting Sounds has been awarded as one of the Most Beautiful Books in Austria!
💫 Congrats to the editors @grrrr_org , Almut Schilling and @_lfsaw (eds.), the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna @mdwwien and of course to @astridseme for the design of this incredible book!

Rotting Sounds was a multi-year research project that dealt with the topic of contemporary music recording and in particular with the problem of digital storage. Digital music recordings are not statically preserved files, but as such are affected by a creeping acoustic decay. However, the researchers understand this decay and the resulting products as a new kind of music and a new aesthetic. The confrontation with decay ultimately led to all waste being collected during the research period: From yogurt cups to hard disks, USB sticks, cables, clothing. This mountain of waste was finally shredded and turned into paper, which was then processed into this very publication, which formally and in terms of content treats decay and dissolution as the creation of a new aesthetic and thus confronts an aesthetic of collecting and preserving.

Another big milestone for the ELAK Sound Projection Lab, part of the @aesr_lab research project:
The design of our loudspeaker enclosures for @faitalpro 4FE32 drivers has arrived at a final result. We are starting the prints of 256 enclosures from PETG for indoor use and 32 enclosures from Greentec Pro for mobile use.
The speakers will be powered by @innosonix LP2 amps. by @grrrr_org

Looking for a larger hall/loft (150+ m2) plus additional infrastructure (kitchen/bathroom/workspace) to rent in Vienna for a long-term contemporary arts project.
It should be bright and high, rather central and with a certain coziness factor (wooden floors, etc.).
Any pointers? taken in Wien, Austria by @grrrr_org

Just revisited the album "untours" recorded with Susanna Gartmayer. These are barely edited free improvisations, recorded at the former @transmedialekunst sound studio.
Almost 14 years old, i haven't heard it for a very long time. But i love it, it sounds fresh and direct, a little rough but also poetic.
Due to various distractions at the time of its making it has never been released on a proper label, but here it is.
