🧩 My dad loves jigsaw puzzles, so this year for his 70th birthday I made him a 1000-piece puzzle illustrating his life. From Southend to London to Brighton there are lots of references in there: places he’s lived, his bands The Piranhas and Pookiesnackenburger, podcasting, rock cakes at the Pavilion Garden cafe, Mr Kipling’s Almond Slices, 0% Guinness, not to mention his 4 children and all of the various pets over the years.

Heavily influenced by the amazing @laurencekingpub puzzles illustrated by the likes of @eleanortaylorstudio and @michael__kirkham that have featured at the puzzle table.

Related: I’ve been worrying about AI stealing all the joy but also the frustration that comes with creating.
I got frustrated making this because putting it together is like a puzzle itself. I found it hard to plan out and sketch and put together. But in the end it felt so rewarding to spend time researching and looking these things up, putting all this time and effort into a present for someone I love. AI can’t do that. It can’t know all of these in-jokes. And it can’t replace the feeling that comes with painstakingly piecing together these different parts of a story. It’s obvious why people want shortcuts to finished results, but for me here the process was a big part of it. by @grrrrace1

I was delighted to be asked back to illustrate Chukoh’s new campaign ‘Yes, I’m Chūkō Kasei’, which centres the people who work at the company.
These are the first two in the series - portraits, some small spot illustrations and some lettering. It was a fun challenge to capture the unique spirit and personalities of the subjects! ⚾️🌏

Out tomorrow! I illustrated ‘The Gift of Friendship’ - a set of cards designed to celebrate connection and prompt you to show up for the people who matter the most 💕

This project was a joyful way to kick off this year and it’s so exciting to see it as the final product! You can swipe along to see a somewhat frantic timelapse of me painting the cover.
For the cards, we used a mix of new paintings and re-used some older illustrations from my archive. Nice to give some old drawings a new life!

Cover painting for ‘Women, Walking: Contemporary voices on nature and belonging’ by Kerri Andrews 📖

I love the patterns and flowing movement of contour lines in maps, so took the chance to do something a bit more abstract, hinting at landscapes without directly depicting them
