Check out the sneak peek of this recent renovation project: engineered hardwood throughout the house, vinyl floors in the basement, recapped staircases, and upgraded railings with all new finishes that perfectly match the hardwood floors. Stay tuned for more detailed videos and pictures to see how the architectural vision came to life. We’re proud to be a part of this incredible transformation. #BeforeAndAfter #HomeImprovement #MondayMotivation by @gtaace

Most staircases don’t need to be replaced.Re-veneering the sides and refinishing the staircase can completely transform it.

On this project, the risers had already been completed before the stringers were added, so we finished the corners with molding. When completed together, the veneer corners can also be joined with clean 45° mitres.

Unveiling the results! 🔓✨ by @gtaace

From square holes to the final installation. Here’s how the designer panels and solid metal pickets bring the entire railing design together.

Quick correction from my previous video: I accidentally said 5/8-inch, but in this setup I’m using a 1/2-inch hollow mortising chisel with a 3/8-inch drill bit for installing 1/2-inch solid square pickets.

The chisel and pilot-hole sizes can be changed depending on the size of the hole and picket you’re working with. The drill bit keeps the chisel aligned with the pilot holes before hammering it down.

Make sure the SDS is set to hammer/chisel-only mode—no rotation—and don’t drive the chisel too deep because it can bind.

Would you use an improved version of this setup? 🔲🛠️

From stainless steel to black. A small change that makes a big difference.

Three years after completing the floors, new staircases, glass railings, and custom stair finishing, we’re back to update the hardware and give you a little tour.

New railings, solid metal pickets, and handrails reinforced with a steel bar, all installed with a new layout for this staircase.

We kept the original structure, replaced the treads and risers with red oak, re-veneered the sides, and added new nosings and mouldings. We finished the upgrade with continuous handrails, no posts, and solid metal pickets.

Check out the progress on our latest project! 🚧 Glass railings are being installed, engineered hardwood floors are down, and the stained and finished staircases are protected. Stay tuned for the final reveal!

On the main floor, we installed custom white oak nosings and raised them to match the height of the new engineered hardwood that’s going over the tile. Upstairs, we replaced the nosings with custom maple, and those have already been sanded and stained. Two different areas, each requiring a different approach to prepare for the finished renovation.

The finished result is only part of the story.

We re-veneered the staircase, squared off the rounded bottom steps, replaced the mouldings, and installed new handrails, posts, and railings with solid metal pickets. The surrounding walls still need to be painted and touched up.

Swipe through to see the before shot, the work in progress, and the finished result, including a walkthrough video at the end.
