POV:The best investment you’ll ever make is in the places that change you. Three weeks. Four countries. 🇨🇭🇩🇪🇫🇷🇬🇧20,000+ steps every single day.Planes. Trains. Scooters. Bikes. Funiculars. Suspension Bridges. Gondolas. A top-down convertible. Every mode of transportation became part of the adventure.The older I get, the more I realize travel isn’t about checking destinations off a list. Three nights in the country of my birth. Two weeks. Countless trains. Endless trails. Alpine lakes, mountain peaks, and villages that looked like they belonged inside a storybook.Switzerland is also home to my roots and I’m fascinated to learn more about what it means to be Swiss!One of the greatest highlights was hosting Philippines Fest in Kloten with my @knlfolkarts and @pamanakali family, where we all met so many Filipinos from across Europe. June 25th marks 17 years since the world lost @michaeljackson yet his music, artistry, and humanitarian spirit continue to inspire generations.Thanks to the highest grossing biopic #Michael and the incredible portrayal by @jaafarjackson, I was reminded once again of just how extraordinary Michael truly was. So on this 17th death anniversary, we made a special pilgrimage to the tiny Swiss village of Thun to visit the private Michael Jackson collection housed in the basement of Brasserie 98 by the Linder family.If you’re an MJ fan, this hidden gem is worth the journey. Be sure to call ahead, as viewing hours are limited and typically only available in the evening. The Linder family graciously welcomed us with a traditional Swiss lunch before opening the doors to their remarkable collection.Gold records, rare memorabilia, magazine clippings, photographs, books and treasured pieces of Michael Jackson history line the walls. Truly a labor of love created by fans, for fans. Even the “We are the world” contract is here that proves MJ’s earnings on the song all went to charity!Seventeen years later, the King of Pop’s legacy remains untouchable. His music transcended borders, languages, and generations. Standing among these memories in the heart of Switzerland felt like a reminder that legends never really leave us…they live on through the lives they touched.Gone too soon. From Kandersteg, @kenobi.bobi and I journeyed to Zermatt, one of the world’s most iconic mountain villages. We took the funicular up Sunnega and spent more than three hours hiking down, with the Matterhorn standing watch in the distance. Along the way, we picked up walking sticks from the mountainside and let nature set the pace.Zermatt holds a special place in my heart. I learned to ski here as a young girl, and returning decades later to hike these trails with my youngest son felt like life coming full circle. Sometimes the most meaningful moments aren’t the conversations but the shared silences, the steady footsteps, and the awe of standing together in a place that makes you feel small in the best possible way.Fun fact: The Matterhorn’s dramatic peak inspired Walt Disney’s design of the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the first tubular steel roller coaster ever built.Some places are bucket-list destinations. A perfect Swiss summer day 🇨🇭✨From Interlaken, we took the train to Kandersteg, strolled through the storybook village, rode the Oeschinensee gondola, raced down the mountain toboggan, and hiked to one of Switzerland’s most stunning natural wonders, the Oeschinensee. Europe is in the middle of a heat wave or what they are calling a “heat dome” and one thing I’ve come to appreciate is how many public drinking fountains there are.
